| Bowker, Lincecum star in Giants' win Starter Strikes out 11
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants called up John Bowker to provide a little bit of power, and he's already overloaded the circuit.
Bowker, who struggled during Spring Training and early in the Triple-A season, has found his comfort zone and then some. In the first two games of his Major League career, Bowker is already second on the team in home runs and runs batted in.
Bowker hit his second home run in as many days and drove in four runs as the San Francisco Giants defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-4, in Sunday's series finale.
Bowker wasn't expected to start Monday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and that's probably a blessing in disguise. He desperately needs some sleep.
"It's time to go back to the hotel and get some rest," he said. "It's been crazy and a lot of fun."
Bowker didn't have much time to pack up and make it to San Francisco for his Major League debut Saturday, and he spent most of the night catching up with family and friends.
"The kid has been a shot in the arm for us coming up and doing what he's doing," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "He's comfortable and he can hit. We needed some power and he's provided that the last couple of games."
Bowker became the first San Francisco Giant to homer in his first two games, slamming a two-run shot during a five-run rally in the fourth inning against Joel Pineiro, who was making his season debut. He also added a run-scoring single and sacrifice fly.
"I have been working on getting comfortable," Bowker said. "I was finding my timing. I have been swinging at bad pitches. Now I feel comfortable out there and I'm trying to get good pitches to hit.
Tim Lincecum won his second straight decision and the Giants have won in each of his three appearances this year. He pitched another six strong innings, becoming only the second Giants starter to earn a victory, joining Kevin Correia.
He allowed two runs on six hits over six innings, walking one and striking out 11, one off his career high and the third time he's struck out 10 or more in a game. Lincecum retired eight in a row, six by strikeouts, during one point in the game.
Eugenio Velez added a two-run single and Lincecum drove in a run with a single, both in the fourth.
Matt Cain hit a home run Saturday, but don't expect to see him or Lincecum batting eighth any time soon, a la the Cardinals.
"I'm just getting lucky out there," Lincecum said. "I'm throwing the bat at the ball. It was more of a good pitch than a good swing."
Tyler Walker got out of a critical jam in the eighth to help the Giants, getting St. Louis leadoff hitter Skip Schumaker to ground out with the bases loaded. Brian Wilson pitched the ninth for his third save.
"That's huge," said Bochy. "We had to have as tough a loss as we can [Saturday]. It was disheartening. But you need to be resilient as a club and a player. Walker goes out there when we needed a big out, makes some good pitches and got us out of there."

| Lincecum kicks ass!
7 IP, 6H, 3 BB, 5 K, ZERO ER.
He's 3-0 with a 1.57 ERA.
For comparison, Andrew Miller who was drafted the same year is 0-2 with a 9.68 ERA.
They both have 4 games pitched.

| Oh yeah, game over. What awful offenses those two have. Final score: 1-0 Giants. Yesterday's score was 1-0 Padres through 8 before they blew it and lost 3-2 in 13. That's just a few days after they [the Padres] played 13 scoreless innings against the Rockies before both teams scored once in the 14th and not again until the 22nd. Tonight the teams combine for 9 hits - 7 singles, a double, and a home run. More importantly Tim Lincecum still kicks ass: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 9 K. His ERA falls to 1.23. He threw 120! pitches though. He gets the win and improves to 4-0. Oh yeah, how's 36 K's in 29.1 innings sound? He's striking people out like it's going out of style! | |

The ERA went up to 1.61 but Lincecum still kicks ass!
He leads the league with 53 K's too!

Too bad fans can't vote for pitchers Stupid rules! At this rate he'd better be an all-star. Every team gets 1+. Quick, name a Giant not named Lincecum that's doing any good.

| Lincecum has his worst outing of the season matching a season high for earned runs with 3.
He gave up 3 runs (all in the 4th inning) in 6 innings. In typical Lincecum fashion he struck out 10 batters to increase his ML lead in K's.
His ERA skyrockets to 1.92.
Despite all that he left with a 7-3 lead and in pretty good shape. Then of course Tyler Walker gave up 4 runs in the 8th inning which cost Lincecum the win. Former Tiger Tim Byrdak got the win for Houston.
He's stuck at 5-1 with a 1.92 ERA and 63 K's in 59.1 IP.
His final line today: 6IP, 5H, 3ER, 3BB, 10K

| Poor Lincecum is really struggling right now He had possibly his worst game of the year today (it was at Coors Field though, maybe that's why )" 6 IP, 5H, 4BB, 6K, 3 ER ERA skyrockets to 2.17 His team is 3 outs away from winning and they have a 3 run lead (possibly more as they're still batting). | |

You have a problem with that? I think you like Todd Jones. I like Tim Lincecum. I see no problems there. Actually, I'm a pretty big fan of nearly 10 MLers.... Granderson, Verlander, MADDUX!!, Lincecum, Zito (when losing), Howard (when K-ing), and maybe Stephen Drew...that's a new one so let's see if it sticks.

And you sure do have a thing for pitchers. :curtis: and are Tigers By liking players on other teams it gives me something to root for when the Tigers aren't on. You've got to broaden your interests so that most any baseball game has meaning. Pitchers rock! Jones is a pitcher so I think you have a thing for pitchers, too!
