A far cry from 1983

When 50 games were televised on WDIV

However the Tigers are no longer on local TV [ except for FOX game of week]

Same goes for Wings and Pistons

Kind of sad FSN has such an iron grip with local TV rights

Tigers Six-Packs are back; Flex Ticket Packs now on sale
Limited time offer gives fans option to secure tickets for prime dates

• Six Pack Plans

DETROIT - Detroit Tigers Six-Game Flex Ticket Packs are now on sale. A purchase of a Tigers Six Pack affords fans the opportunity to secure tickets to choice games prior to the individual game on-sale date of Saturday, March 7.

"We are bringing back the Six Pack to give Tigers fans the first opportunity to secure tickets in advance of March 7," said Steve Harms, Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Ticket Sales. "We listened to our fans and they like having this option."

Tigers Six Packs are located in the Outfield box, Upper Box Infield, and Upper Reserved sections at Comerica Park, and start as low as $84.00. Fans have their choice of any combination of three premium and three non-premium games. For example, a fan can select two games against the Chicago Cubs, one against the Boston Red Sox, and three additional non-premium dates.

Premium dates in 2009 include a three-game series with both the Cubs, who will be returning to Comerica Park for the first time since the 2001 season, and Red Sox, as well as Friday and Saturday games in June, July, and August. There is a limit on Tigers Six Packs of 12 tickets per order and this excludes Opening Day.

All Sunday home games are Kids Days at Comerica Park. Kids (14-and-under) receive a free promotional item, free rides on the Comerica Carousel or the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel. Free face painters are stationed near Gate A, and Kids Run the Bases following the game (weather permitting).

Friday and Saturday night fireworks, are scheduled May-September, and included with your ticket.

EASY WAYS TO GET TIGERS TICKETS...
Fans interested in purchasing Tigers Six Packs are encouraged to call 313-471-BALL (2255), or visit www.tigers.com. Season tickets (81, 41, 27 and 15-game plans) are now on sale, and start as low as $9.00 per game. Full season and partial plan ticket holders continue to enjoy a discount on their seats, and are not affected by variable pricing. Group tickets go on sale February 18 and include party suites, picnic areas and regular seating. Individual game tickets go on sale Saturday, March 7 at 10:00 a.m.

Club statement regarding the passing of George Kell

The following is a club statement regarding the passing of former Detroit Tigers player and broadcaster George Kell, attributable to Tigers owner Michael Ilitch:

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of legendary Detroit Tiger and Hall of Famer George Kell. George was part of the fabric of the Tiger ball club for many years -- both on the field and off. Following his Hall of Fame career playing third base, he further became a household name as a play-by-play announcer for the Tigers and helped bring the game he loved to life for so many watching and listening at home. George truly embodied what it meant to be "always a Tiger" -- he was a competitor, a gentleman and one of the true greats of the game, and he will be missed. The entire Detroit Tiger Baseball Club and I extend our sincere condolences to George's wife Carolyn, his family and friends."
