| There's a homeless guy in one of my classes. He just sits there and sleeps all class sitting in the seat right next to me. He smells bad.
Anyways, before class he tried to buy crack-cocaine off me. He got mad I wouldn't sell him any so he tried to hit up a few other people in the class.
Nobody has ever tried to buy drugs off me before :haha:

I guess the library kicked him out? He's not a student but he is auditing the class. He enrolled as an auditor which allows him to attend class. The cops came and got him the other day and he hasn't been back since. He is about 30 and has a degree in psychology from Sacramento State and is now homeless. I have a degree in psychology so I guess I'll be homeless when I'm 30.

| I changed the oil in my car all by myself I've never attempted that before. Normally my dad does it but he's out of town and I'm about to go out of town and it was due. My mom said to take it in somewhere and have them do it but they always put the filter on way too tight and it makes it really hard to get off the next time so I figured I'd do it myself. It worked (I think)! | |

I'm pissed about this toilet. My dad knows how to install toilets (and I do now, too thanks to yesterday) and we have a brand-new toilet. It leaks like a son of a bitch. He and I spent 5 hours yesterday trying to put it in but it wouldn't stop leaking (the job should take 20 minutes). Today I bought a bunch of new seals and stuff but it still leaks like crazy. My mom threw away the receipt so we'll have to buy a new one. We haven't been able to use that bathroom for about 2 months now since I totally gutted/redid it (retiled the wall, removed and replaced the floor/subfloor, tiled the floor, changed sinks, we're trying to change the toilet, repainted, etc.). When finished everything will be new except the tub (which is almost impossible to replace). We aren't going to use it until it's totally done and I'm really tired of taking a shower in the other bathroom. I'm also excited because we replaced the shower pipe which means we can have a shower head that works. Our old one was screwed up and didn't work right but we couldn't replace it because somehow some ball-type thing got stuck to the pipe and it wouldn't come off despite years of trying.

If the toilet is leaking at the base where it sits on the floor, it sounds to me as though it just needs a new wax ring. Make sure you apply even pressure all around the toilet to mash it down into the wax, then tighten the bolts that seat it to the floor. Just make sure that the toilet is sitting level before you start tightening them.
If it's leaking at the water supply line, make sure all of the threaded connections are wrapped with plumbers tape before you turn on the water. That SHOULD take care of any leaks. I've put in numerous toilets in my days, and have become quite the expert. LOL. My house has 3 bathrooms, and I have changed the toilet in each one at LEAST once, if not twice. If I didn't already have vacation plans and reservations, I'd come out and help ya...but my hotel in Florida is already paid for, and no refunds are given. lol

The water supply is not leaking. The leak is between the tank and the bowl. I replaced the gasket and that didn't help. I used plumber's putty just for the hell of it and that didn't help. We eventually decided to put the old toilet back and after 15 minutes worth of work it works fine. The old toilet is in good condition so we'll just stick with that. It's not a low flow model so I guess we aren't saving water like we could have been.

| Sounds like you needed an extended seal between the tank and base. We have a toilet that needed all new seals, bolts, wax ring and gaskets. We tried the normal one between the base and tank, but it kept leaking. The reason was the toilet has tile on the wall behind it, and it put a small amt. of pressure on the tank, so it would not seat tight. I went to Lowes and found they have an extended gasket that you can use when they leak like that. And it worked great. I have replaced about 4 toilets and gutted and put all new parts in at least 4 more. This was the first time I ever found this problem. But at least they have a low cost solution. I bought either the Plumb Pak Tank to Bowl Assembly Kit for Gerber or TWI International Tank to Bowl Assembly Kit for Crane. They have taller gaskets. | |
