| Under McCain's insurance plan we will have to pay income tax on the $5000 tax credit that gets sent to our insurance providers. My Insurance right now is taken out before taxes and if that changes and I have to pay tax on $5000 that I won't even get to see I will be pissed. I don't even pay $5000 a year on insurance so where is that extra money going? Not to me and I will still have to pay tax on it. It sound like it's just another way for the government to get more money and control what I do. Mccain only wants to lower taxes for the wealthy and big corporations. Who is left to pick up the bill so the government still gets their share, me and people like me who live paycheck to paycheck. Sure their taxes go down, but I will bet anything mine will go up. At least Obama wants to give the higher taxes to people who can afford to pay them. Bush may have lowered taxes for everyone, but the money the government lost by doing that they just took out of our social security. Didn't save us any money there. We have more money in the present, but what about when we are ready to retire and there is nothing for us to retire with? Not everyone can afford a good private retirement fund. The Republican way didn't work out for me and millions of other people, maybe we should try the other way for 4 years. | |

| Actually, for single employees it'll be $2,500. It's $5,000 for married couples.
All I know is that if we go with McCain's plan, that'll be the end for Employer-based health benefits. If everyone's going to get a tax credit, there's no sense for companies to give you health insurance.

A lot of our tax code and insurance rules are democrat creations. What we need is a good third party to clean up the corruption in government. Both present parties stink to high heaven!

you screwed If $250,000 is middle class, then my family must be in lower class.
A lot of people must be
And for Obama's socialist plans to work [ National Health Care; for example] he have to increase taxes on people making over 50,000 a year
Just look at nations that have universal health care;
They pay a lot more in taxes Frankly, I don't really understand either Health Care Plan. I don't really know which one would be better.

| Supreme Court rejects GOP bid in Ohio voting dispute
WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court sided Friday with Ohio's top elections official in a dispute with the state Republican Party over voter registrations.
The justices overruled a federal appeals court that had ordered Ohio's top elections official to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility.
Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, faced a deadline of Friday to set up a system to provide local officials with names of newly registered voters whose driver's license numbers or Social Security numbers on voter registration forms don't match records in other government databases.
Ohio Republicans contended the information for counties would help prevent fraud. Brunner said the GOP is trying to disenfranchise voters.
In a brief unsigned opinion, the justices said they were not commenting on whether Ohio is complying with a provision of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 that lays out requirements for verifying voter eligibility.
Instead, they said they were granting Brunner's request because it appears that the law does not allow private entities, like the Ohio GOP, to file suit to enforce the provision of the law at issue.
"They didn't deal with the merits of the case," said Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett. "What they dealt with was a technicality on whether we had standing or not to bring the action."
About 200,000 of 666,000 voters who have registered in Ohio since Jan. 1 have records that don't match. Brunner has said the discrepancies most likely stem from innocent clerical errors rather than fraud but has set up a verification plan.
Bennett said Brunner could have set up a system months ago to check the discrepancies and that her actions have left the potential for voter fraud.
"If we have a close election in Ohio and there's any doubts, the failures will be laid right at her doorstep," Bennett said.
Brunner said the court's decision would help ease confusion in the run-up to Election Day.
She said the act was clear that the mismatch lists were to be used to maintain the voter database, not to determine voter eligibility.
"We are very pleased that the court recognized that this was an illegal challenge on the part of the Republicans," she said.
She said the office would have found a way to comply, but there were risks that qualified voters would have been disqualified.
"I think it's an unfair tactic to subject voters to this kind of uncertainty and anxiety this close to such an important election," she said.
In court filings, the GOP has not produced any specific evidence of voting fraud, only unsubstantiated reports that voters from other states had cast fraudulent ballots during the early voting period.
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said lower court rulings have clearly said regulations issued under the act require the secretary of state to match against the list, find where there's been fraud and inconsistencies and report them to counties.
"Why in the world would that not happen? We have the technology, the budget, the means and the manpower to make that happen," Davis told reporters on a conference call.

| Welcome to the most corrupt government in the nation. I thought our last Governor was rotten, but as I get to know Strickland, and his cronies, I know why I had the sick feeling when he was elected! Even the Dems, in my area, are upset with this fake voter apps problem.
I sure hope they come up with a good system to make sure citizens are allowed to vote, and non residents are forced to vote where their official residence is!
I am glad I voted absentee ballot and personally handed it in at our local Dept of Elections. So far, they have been honest! I worried in the past, because people just had to give their name, when they went to vote, without having to show their voting registration card. Now you have to provide proper ID, but that ID can be a utility bill..... which does not prove you are even a citizen of the USA!

| Even Mccain thinks this war we are in is over oil.
From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy At the conclusion of a town hall held this morning outside in Denver, McCain decided to toss in a plug for his upcoming energy policy rollout. But in the midst of decrying the dangers of Americans reliance on foreign oil, McCain seemed to suggest that this reliance caused the current struggle in Iraq. "My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will -- that will then prevent us -- that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East,” McCain said.
Yup, if we didn't need the oil we wouldn't be over there. I'll give him points for honesty in regards to this issue.
