Both my mom and grandma are great cooks, but their not related (see it's my dad's mom...). I don't know if I'm a good cook - I've never tried!

I'm assuming her mother taught her, but she's dead so I don't know if she was a good cook or not Plus my mom was the only girl in a family of 6 so she grew up cooking for those lazy brothers of hers.

Do like I did - start with pies and move from there. I've never tried anything but pies but my pies are good.

That isn't even necessary. Last time I went home my sister and I along with our mother and her friend were in the car and the things my mom started talking about....

Nobody thought it was funny! Not my sister, not her friend, and certainly not me!

Do like I did - start with pies and move from there. I've never tried anything but pies but my pies are good.

My mom tried to make pie crusts, but they weren't crust-like. I mean they were terrible!

Here's my secret:

When the recipe calls for a certain amount of something, MEASURE it out. When my mom cooks she never measures anything. Maybe that's the problem?

I planned on it because I was told it's impossible to make them on your own - they don't sell pre-made ones with tops. Strawberry rhubarb pies require a top!
