Not sure that was the burgers name

Anyhow the ad is gone

What was this ad about?
I can't really comment if I haven't seen it.
I mean if the ad said something like "eat a whopper so you don't turn into a dumb Mexican" (which I highly doubt it did), that would be highly-offensive. If instead it was an ad where a Mexican said "eat a whopper" and wasn't made to look like a complete moron, that isn't at all offensive.
The ad is almost certainly somewhere in the middle so I'll hold off comment.

Hmm....I could see how this could come off as offensive. Nobody is threatening litigation so it hasn't done much harm. Burger King is going to change it apparently and I guess that's a decent idea.
If the guy had an American flag it probably would have pissed people off.
I've seen way worse though that didn't get pulled.

I'm offended by how stupid that one is.
They had a guy swimming with a Mexican flag attached to him. I'm not an expert of flag etiquette, but I think people would be pissed off if you swam with an American flag tied to you...especially if you were trying to sell something as you do it.

In the US, we honor the flag, but we have to shut up when people burn the flag, or wear is as clothing. It is classed a freedom of speech issue, although I am against incorrect destruction of the flag.
I even had flag blue jeans in Jr. High! Nobody complained then.

I never even knew it was considered disrespectful to wear the flag until Rob was in the air force.

It's one thing to do that with your own flag, but I think it gets more offensive if you start playing with someone else's flag.
I mean people burn US flags in protest all the time and you don't think a ton of it. If you saw people in France burning US flags you'd be more offended if you saw someone in Nebraska doing it, right?

I wasn't under the impression we were talking about disposal, I assumed we were talking about burning it through protest. But no, burning for disposal is okay I guess, though it still makes me kinda sick.

You assumed correctly but I figured you didn't like burning it for disposal either.
Originally we were talking about wearing Mexican flags as capes to sell burgers.
If you saw a Mexican ad and a guy had an American flag on like a cape and went swimming with it, would you approve of that commercial?

Okay, different scenario...
...some guy from Don Juan's taco shack in Guadalajara, Mexico randomly calls you and asks what you think about a commercial with a guy wearing an American flag as a cape and swimming around in a commercial designed to sell tacos? Good idea?
Come to think of it I can't imagine a taco shack being called Don Juan's unless the owner knows all his female employees quite well

No I am not offended by someone wearing the flag. Like I stated above, I didn't even know it was considered disrespectful until Rob was in the military.

But wearing it as a cape and swimming with it? Especially if they're foreign? Especially if they're trying to sell something?
Like I said, I don't think the commercial is all that offensive, but I could see why it could come off as offensive and it's quite stupid as well. Might as well get rid of it.

Wearing it as a cape and swimming in it is nothing compared to things I've seen our flag used for. And foreigners doing stupid things with our flag is not nearly as offensive to me as seeing Americans do stupid things with it. But yeah, probably not a great idea when trying to sell something.

Most of their new products suck anyway

Every place that comes out with new stuff sucks.
Look at In-N-Out - they're probably the most popular fast food restaurant on the West Coast and they're menu consists of the following items:
Hamburger Cheeseburger Double Cheeseburger French Fries (one size) Chocolate, Vanilla, or strawberry shake (one size) Soda (small, medium, or large)
That's it! They might have coffee, not sure about that.

Sadly, you'll never get an In-N-Out in Michigan. There are no freezers in any of the restaurants as they don't believe in freezing meat. The company headquarters are in CA and it's hard to ship meat across country if it isn't frozen. Thawed meat doesn't last long.
They don't freeze their potatoes either - if you look in the back you see guys peeling/cutting real potatoes.

Even more amazing, In-N-Out is famous for paying their employees a ton (you start at about $10/hr despite the fact minimum wage is $8/hr) but they still manage to keep their food cheap. $5 will get you a double cheeseburger, fries, and a drink with change to spare.
Store managers have been known to make like $75,000-$100,000 a year depending on sales.
The fast food place I worked at the manager made about $2,500 a month.
