With all due respect, he was FORCED to be a Nazi. He was in a Nazi school or something like that which was mandatory.

No....

Following his fourteenth birthday in 1941, Ratzinger (the pope) was enrolled in the Hitler Youth — as membership was required for all 14-year old German boys after December 1939— but was an unenthusiastic member and refused to attend meetings. His father was a bitter enemy of Nazism, believing it conflicted with the Catholic faith, according to biographer John L. Allen, Jr. In 1941, one of Ratzinger's cousins, a 14-year-old boy with Down syndrome, was killed by the Nazi regime in its campaign of eugenics.

I'm not even close to Catholic so maybe I'm missing something, but other than numerous major issues I disagree with (forbidding birth control to start) I don't see what makes him worse than any other pope. He's not Italian, but who cares about that?

UPDATE:
This is grossly offensive:
Pope Benedict wrote:
Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.

Calling the Islamic prophet "evil and inhuman" is a deplorable display of intolerance. As I am not catholic and have no allegiance to this, or any, pope I will cease defending him because of this comment.

I'm not sure I'd agree they're the most intolerant. I'd give my thoughts on that, but I might piss of a whole bunch of people.

I will say the Hindus, Buddhists, and Taoists are tied for least intolerant.

I don't really like any of them. I liked John Kerry but he's not running. They're all better than the likes of Huckabee and Al Sharpton though.

Yeah, I probably would have voted for him as I don't care for the two major nominees. I'd still prefer a Democrat to my liking but the problem with Democrats is they get too liberal where they shouldn't and not liberal enough when they should.
