Cause for a pause: Yankees remove 'curse' shirt

A construction worker's bid to curse the Yankees by planting a Red Sox jersey in their new stadium was foiled Sunday when the team removed the offending shirt from its burial spot in the ballpark.
After locating the shirt in a service corridor behind what will be a restaurant in the new Yankee Stadium, construction workers jackhammered through the remaining concrete and pulled it out.

The team learned that a Sox-fan construction worker had buried a shirt in the stadium from a report in the New York Post, team officials said.
Yankees president Randy Levine said the team at first considered leaving the shirt.
"The first thought was, you know, it's never a good thing to be buried in cement when you're in New York," Levine said. "But then we decided, 'Why reward somebody who had really bad motives and was trying to do a really bad thing?'"

Maybe this construction worker helped with the new seats at CoPa and placed one of these jerseys there and cursed the Tigers!

First of all, Why admit to doing it before the stadium was finished?

You could have waited until it was built before admiting it! Then it be too late!

Second, Why isn't this guy fired? They had to go and do extra work removing it and replacing the broken concrete.

Oh Wait! I forgot those guys are unionized. He ain't losing his job, especially if he is African American!


Finally, it is taxpayer money that is wasted but Who Cares! Not like Steinbrenner is spending 750 million for a stadium!

Which is one reason why Detroit is so screwed up!

well, it was in NYC so really can't compare it to Detroit....yet I wonder how it was 'leaked' in the first place.
Judging by the picture that accompanied the story, it probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway! It was already in tatters at the edges!

Unions have corrupted Detroit also!


Remember the Philathropist [ spelling] [ i don't have time to check; my lunch break is over] that offered 200 million dollars to start charter schools in Detroit.

What Happened? Beacuse it was a white man[ from outside Detroit] the School Board and the Union threw a shit fit and there it went out the window!


So What if more than 50 percent of students don't graduate!


We gotta pay Kwame's family to have cushy jobs! The Janitor making 60,000 grand or the part time bus Bus Driver making 70!

It seems that way; Interesting series this week in the Detroit News Editorial [Page 10 A] about how Detroit Public Schools should cooperate with charter schools, in particular, successful charter schools.

Just to get kids to graduate!! Parents are to blame too.

You bet parents are to blame too!!! Can't enforce anything on the kids when their parents don't even know or care if they're in school.
There are some successful charter schools, Nat'l Heritage Academies for one...and the starting pay in the Detroit area for that academy is comparable to the district as well, don't know about the top pay though...

some parents nowadays expect the schools to take over their role!

But Detroit Schools mismanage funds big time. They closed several schools but left new computers unopened for thieves to steal!

I've seen classrooms in Pontiac, when I had a placement there, that didn't have computers and omg it makes me want to scream!!!! for letting that happen!!!
