Connecticut Tigers Release First Ever Roster

TROY, NY-The Connecticut Tigers have finalized their opening day roster with 15 pitchers and 15 position players in uniform for this evening's contest against the Tri-City ValleyCats at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. RHP Clemente Mendoza, one of four returning players from the 2009 Oneonta Tigers, will get the start tonight in the season-opener. The game will be broadcast live on AM 1310 WICH with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. tonight.

The roster features a wide collection of talent, including Nutmeg State native IF Brett Anderson (Bristol, Bristol Eastern HS); who continues his career after two seasons with the Gulf Coast League Tigers following his selection in the 12th round of the June 2008 First Year Player Draft. Fellow Infielders Matt Perry (Sudbury, MA; Holly Cross) and Ryan Soares (Harwich, MA; George Mason) will begin their professional careers this evening along with former University of Oregon reliever RHP Drew Gagnier, who appeared in two games in the NCAA Norwich Regional at Dodd Stadium in early June.

The Tigers start the 2010 home season on Saturday, June 26 against the Vermont Lake Monsters (Washington Nationals) at 7:05 p.m. To purchase tickets, please call the Tigers at 860-887-7962, go online to www.cttigers.com or stop by the Dodd Stadium Box Office during normal business hours.

The Connecticut Tigers are entering their first year at Dodd Stadium and will play a 76-game schedule from mid-June through early September as part of the New York-Penn League, the oldest continually operated Single-A League in minor league baseball. The Tigers moved to southeastern Connecticut in April after playing 44 seasons in Oneonta, NY.

ValleyCats Win 4-3 on Opening Night

TROY, NY-SS Oscar Figueroa (2-5) hit an RBI double to score Ben Orloff (0-0) from second base to give the Tri-City ValleyCats (1-0) a 4-3 "walk-off" win over the Connecticut Tigers (0-1) before 5,370 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in the 2010 season opener for both teams and the inaugural game in Connecticut Tigers history. The ValleyCats opened the scoring in the first inning on a solo home run by RF Michael Kvasnicka (2-4). He hit the first pitch from Connecticut starter RHP Clemente Mendoza over the left field wall to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead. The Tigers scored two runs in the 2nd inning thanks to a two-run double by DH Ryan Enos (2-4). 1B James Robbins (1-4) led off the inning with a single and 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (0-4) popped out. Robbins moved to second base on a single by SS Brett Anderson (1-4). Both runners advanced one base when Tri-City RF Michael Kvasnicki accidentally misplayed the baseball and was charged with an error. Both runners were in scoring position for Enos, who smacked a pitch into the left field corner for a two-run double and a 2-1 Tigers lead.

Tri-City added a run in the 4th inning. Kvasnicka led off the inning with a double and moved to third base on a groundout by 3B Tyler Burnett (1-4). C Ben Heath (1-4) lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Kvasnicka and tie the game at 2-2.

Connecticut took a 3-2 lead in the 5th inning on back-to-back doubles by Enos and C Eric Roof (1-3). Roof's two-bagger plated Enos to once again give the Tigers a one-run lead.

The ValleyCats scored a single run in the 5th inning to tie the game at 3-3. CF Wilton Infante (1-4) led off the inning with a double and moved to third base on a single by Figueroa. With Kvasnicka at-bat, Mendoza was called for a balk. Infante scored from third base for a 3-3 tied score.

Mendoza pitched six innings and allowed three runs on nine hits to get the no-decision.

The Tigers continue their series with the ValleyCats on Saturday night at 7:00. RHP Luis Sanz (5-4, 3.27 Oneonta/0-1, 8.64 West Michigan) gets the start for the Tigers while RHP Bobby Doran (5-4, 1.35 for Texas Tech) gets the start for the ValleyCats. Tigers Take Advantage of Errors, Win 7-3

TROY, NY-The Connecticut Tigers got a two-run single from 1B James Robbins in the third inning and the first professional home run from LF PJ Polk in the fifth inning to earn a 7-3 win over the Tri-City ValleyCats before 4,419 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Saturday night.

The ValleyCats scored a run in the first inning to take advantage of the slow start by Tigers RHP Luis Sanz. After 2B Ben Orloff struck out, SS Oscar Figueroa and RF Michael Kvasnicka both walked. 3B Tyler Burnett hit a ground ball to Tigers 1B James Robbins, who threw to second base to force out Kvasnicka. The return throw sailed past first base into foul territory. Figueroa scored on the error for a 1-0 ValleyCats lead.

The Tigers scored three runs in the third inning thanks to a costly error by Tri-City 2B Ben Orloff. C Eric Roof led off the inning with a single and moved to second base when CF Jeff Rowland was hit by a pitch. LF P.J. Polk hit a bouncing ball up the middle that went between the legs of Orloff. Roof scored from second base for a 1-1 tied score.

After ValleyCats manager Jim Pankovits removed Tri-City starter Bobby Doran, RHP Brenden Stines entered the game and surrendered a two-run single to Robbins for a 3-1 Connecticut lead.

Connecticut scored a single run in the 5th inning on the home run by Polk. He smacked a pitch over the left field wall to make it 4-1.

The Tigers added an insurance run in the sixth inning. DH Ryan Enos singled and advanced to second base on a single by RF Londell Taylor. Rowland smacked an RBI single to plate Enos for a 5-1 lead.

RHP Luis Sanz pitched five innings and allowed one run on two hits to pick up the win.

The ValleyCats scored a run in the 6th inning to cut the lead down to 5-2 before the Tigers tacked on a run in the eighth inning. 2B Alexander Nunez led off the inning with a double and moved to third base on a past ball. Roof lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Nunez to make it 6-2.

In the Tri-City eighth inning, SS Oscar Figueroa hit a solo home run against RHP Matt Little to make it 6-3. The Tigers added a run in the ninth inning on an RBI single by DH Ryan Enos to score SS Brett Anderson from third base to make it 7-3.

Tiger Tracks: Two Tigers relievers made their professional debuts on Saturday. LHP Shawn Teufel pitched a scoreless sixth inning and Little tossed two innings, allowing one earned run on three hits.

The Tigers wrap up their series with the ValleyCats on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. LHP Rayni Guichardo (4-4, 1.73 GCL Tigers/0-0, 3.60 Lakeland) gets the start for the Tigers against RHP Murilo Gouvea (1-2, 3.77 Greenville) for the ValleyCats. Tigers Win 5-3 in Tri-City

TROY, NY-LHP Rayni Guichardo tossed seven innings and allowed one run on four hits and LF Matt Mansilla hit a two-run home run in the first inning to help the Connecticut Tigers beat the Tri-City ValleyCats 5-3 before 3,880 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Sunday night.

The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning against ValleyCats RHP Murillo Gouvea. CF Jeff Rowland led off the inning with a single and moved to second base on a groundout by DH P.J. Polk. 2B Alexander Nunez popped out to center field to move Rowland to third base and scored on a double by 1B James Robbins for a 1-0 Connecticut lead.

Mansilla followed by homering over the left field wall for a 3-0 Connecticut lead.

Connecticut added single runs in the 4th and 5th innings. 3B Matt Perry hit a one-out single and moved to second base on a single by C Eric Roof. Both runners advanced one base each on the throw in from center field. Perry scored on a wild pitch for a 4-0 lead.

In the 5th inning, Robbins reached base on an error. He moved to second base on a single by Mansilla and to third base when RF Chao-Ting Tang reached on a fielder's choice. The Tigers executed a double-steal with Tang stealing second base and Robbins scoring from third base for a 5-0 lead.

The ValleyCats scored a run in the seventh inning against Guichardo. 1B Tyler Burnett doubled and moved to third base on a groundout by LF Daniel Adamson. C Buck Afenir grounded out to score Burnett to cut the lead to 5-1.

Tri-City tacked on two more runs in the 9th inning to make the score 5-3.

Tiger Tracks: LHP Logan Hess pitched a scoreless eighth inning and RHP Patrick Lawson finished the game by allowing one earned run on two hits in the ninth inning.

The Tigers now head to Burlington, Vermont to start a two-game series with the Vermont Lake Monsters. RHP Josue Carreno (3-3, 2.36 VSL Tigers) gets the start for Connecticut against LHP Graham Hicks (1-1, 9.00 Hagerstown) for the Lake Monsters. Vermont Wins 5-3 on Monday

BURLINGTON, VT-The Vermont Lake Monsters (3-1) scored five runs in the fourth inning to earn a 5-3 win over the Connecticut Tigers (2-2) before 1,863 fans at Centennial Field in the opener of a two-game series.

The Tigers jumped out to the early 1-0 lead on a solo home run over the left field wall by LF Matt Mansilla (1-4). Mansilla, who smacked a solo home run in his first at-bat at Tri-City on Sunday, gave the Tigers the early lead.

Connecticut came back to take advantage of two errors in the fourth inning. 2B Alexander Nunez (0-4) reached on an error and scored when 1B James Robbins (1-4) reached on a throwing error by Vermont 3B Stephen King. 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-3) hit an RBI double to score Robbins for a 3-0 Connecticut lead.

Vermont came back to score five runs in the fourth inning against Connecticut RHP 3B Stephen King (1-4) led off the inning with a double and LF Wade Moore (0-2) worked a walk. SS Jason Martinson (2-3) laid down a sacrifice bunt that was mishandled by RHP Josue Carreno. He threw to first base late and the bases were loaded for RF Rick Hughes (0-2).

Both Hughes and 1B Jack Walker (0-2) earned back-to-back walks to force in King and Moore. The Lake Monsters sliced the lead to one run at 3-2.

2B Blake Kelso (3-4) hit an RBI single to score Martinson and make it 3-3.

With the bases still loaded Tigers manager Howard Bushong removed Cordova and inserted RHP Michael Torrealba. He unleashed a wild pitch that allowed Hughes to score to make it 4-3. Walker advanced to third base on the walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chad Mozingo (1-4) to make it 5-3.

Carreno suffered the loss by allowing three earned runs in four innings pitched.

Tiger Tracks: RHP Tyler Clark, RHP Brennan Smith and RHP Drew Gagnier each pitched a scoreless inning and allowed one hit for the Tigers on Monday.

Connecticut takes on Vermont in the final game of the two-game series on Tuesday night. LHP Lance Baxter gets the start for Connecticut (6-4, 4.81 at South Alabama) makes the start for Connecticut against LHP Bobby Hansen (1-0, 0.00) for Vermont. Lake Monsters Sweep Series With a 6-2 Win

BURLINGTON, VT-The Vermont Lake Monsters (4-1) scored four runs in the second and third innings to earn a 6-2 win over the Connecticut Tigers (2-3) before 1,521 fans at Centennial Field on Tuesday night.

In the second inning, Vermont scored two runs against LHP Lance Baxter (0-1). 1B Ronnie LaBrie (2-4) hit a one-out single and stole second base. 3B Jack Walker (1-2) hit an RBI single to score LaBrie for a 1-0 Vermont lead.

LF Marcus Jones (1-4) grounded out and Walker scampered to second base. 2B Justin Miller (2-3) hit an RBI single into center field to plate LaBrie for a 2-0 lead. In the third inning, SS Blake Kelso (2-5) doubled and moved to third base on a wild pitch. C David Freitas (0-3) lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Kelso for a 3-0 Vermont lead.

RF Wade Moore (0-3) was hit by a pitch and scored on a triple by LaBrie to make it 4-0.

Baxter lasted three innings and allowed four runs on six hits. LHP Sean Teufel came into the game and struck out the side in the fourth inning but Vermont touched him up for a run in the fifth inning. After Walker (1-2) worked a two-out walk, Jones hit an RBI double to make it 5-0.

The Tigers scored their first run of the game in the seventh inning. DH Alexander Nunez (1-4) reached on an error and moved to second and third base on groundouts by SS Brett Anderson (0-4) and 1B James Robbins (0-4) respectively. LF Matt Mansilla (3-4) hit a single to plate Nunez from third base to trim the lead to 5-1.

In the eighth inning, Nunez doubled to lead off the inning and went to third base when Mansilla singled. An errant throw by Vermont second baseman Justin Miller allowed Nunez to score to make it 5-2.

The Lake Monsters tacked on a run in the eighth inning on a wild pitch by RHP Kevan Hess to move the score to 6-2.

The Tigers head to Lowell, Massachusetts to begin a three-game series with the Lowell Spinners on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Clemente Mendoza (0-0, 4.50) gets the start for the Tigers against RHP Roman Mendez (0-1, 9.00) for the Spinners. Spinners Win 6-1 on Wednesday

LOWELL, MA-The Lowell Spinners (3-3) scored four runs over the sixth and seventh innings to defeat the Connecticut Tigers 6-1 before 4,903 fans at LeLacheur Park on Wednesday night.

The Tigers (2-4) scored a single run in the first inning against Lowell RHP Roman Mendez (1-0). CF Jeff Rowland (3-4) led off the inning with a double and moved to third base on a wild pitch. LF Matt Mansilla (0-3) lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to score Rowland to make it 1-0.

The Spinners scored a run in the second inning against Connecticut starter RHP Clemente Mendoza (0-1). LF Brandon Jacobs (3-4) hit a one-out single and scored on a triple by 1B Miles Head (2-2) to tie the game at 1-1.

In the fourth inning, the Spinners struck again with the combination of Jacobs and Head. Jacobs hit a two-out double and scored on a double by Head to make it 2-1.

Lowell pushed across two runs in the sixth inning. DH Kolbrin Vitek (1-4) led off the inning with a double and RF Bryce Brentz (0-3) was hit by a pitch. Jacobs grounded into a double play. Vitek was retired at third base and Brentz ended up at second base. After Head was hit by a pitch, 3B David Renfroe (0-4) reached on an error.

With the bases loaded, C Chia Chu-Chen (2-3) hit a bloop single to right field to score both Brentz and Head and make it 4-1.

Jacobs hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to round out the scoring at 6-1.

Tiger Tracks: The Tigers made a plethora of moves before the game, assigning RHP Dan Gentzler to the GCL Tigers and transferring IF Carmelo Jaime to Lakeland of the Florida State League. Both players did not see action with Connecticut.

The Tigers also received C Julio Rodriguez from West Michigan. He was hitting .250 with no home runs and one RBI in eight games played. Rodriguez started at catcher and went 0-3 with a walk.

RHP Robbie Weinhardt also made a rehab appearance with Connecticut after coming down from AAA Toledo. He pitched one scoreless inning and allowed one hit for the Tigers. He was 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in 17 appearances for the Mud Hens.

LOWELL, MA-2B Alexander Nunez (1-5) hit a grand-slam home run in the fourth inning to lead the Connecticut Tigers (3-4) to a 13-1 win over the Lowell Spinners (3-4) before 4,877 fans at LeLacheur Park on Thursday night. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Tigers.

The Tigers scored a two runs in the second inning against Lowell RHP Madison Younginer (1-1). C Julio Rodriguez (3-5) led off the inning with a single and moved all the way to third base when SS Brett Anderson (1-4) reached base on an error by Lowell 3B Kolbrin Vitek.

DH Ryan Enos (2-5) grounded into a double play to score Rodriguez from third base for a 1-0 Tigers lead. After LF Matt Mansilla (0-4) worked a walk, RF Chao-Ting Tang (2-4) hit an RBI single to plate Mansilla and make it 2-0.

Connecticut pushed across two runs in the third inning. CF Jeff Rowland (1-4) led off the inning with a single and stole second base. 2B Nunez grounded out and 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (0-3) lifted a sacrifice fly to right field. Rowland scored to make it 3-0.

1B James Robbins (1-5) reached base on an error and scored on a double by Rodriguez to push the Tigers lead to 4-0.

The Spinners broke through with a run in the third inning. SS Jose Garcia (1-3) hit a one-out double and scored on a single by 3B Kolbrin Vitek (2-4) and make the score 4-1.

The Tigers quickly loaded the bases in the fourth inning. Enos singled and moved to third base on a double by Tang. Rowland worked a walk to load the bases.

Spinners manager Bruce Crabbe pulled Younginer from the game. RHP Charlie Rosario came into the game and hung a fastball to Nunez, who powered a grand slam over the left field wall to make it 8-1

Connecticut pushed across two more runs in the seventh inning. Rodriguez and Anderson hit back-to-back singles and each advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Enos hit an RBI single to right field and Mansilla grounded into a fielder's choice. Rodriguez and Anderson each scored to advance the score to 10-1.

In the eighth inning, the Tigers loaded the bases thanks to two walks and an error. Robbins followed with a two-run single. Connecticut scored a run later in the inning when Rodriguez grounded into a double play.

Sanz pitched five innings and allowed one run on six hits to pick up his second win of the season.

Tiger Tracks: LHP Logan Hoch came into the game in the eighth and threw one pitch, hitting Garcia. He was promptly thrown out of the game. Tigers SS Brett Anderson was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning.

Big Night for Enos Translates to an 8-7 Win in Lowell

LOWELL, MA-The Connecticut Tigers (4-4) scored three runs in the ninth inning to win 8-7 over the Lowell Spinners (3-5) before 5,093 fans at LeLacheur Park on Friday night. DH Ryan Enos (3-5) hit a two-run single to win the game for Connecticut, to go along with his two-run home run in the third inning. He finished with five RBI on Friday.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the first inning. CF Jeff Rowland (1-2) led off the inning with a single and moved to second base on a single by 2B Alexander Nunez (2-5). 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (2-4) hit a single to right field. Rowland advanced to third and scored when Lowell RF Bryce Brentz overran the baseball and was charged with an error.

Nunez ended up at third base. He scored on a single by 1B Matt Perry (3-5). The Tigers led 2-0.

The Spinners took advantage of three walks to score six runs in the first inning. CF Felix Sanchez (1-4) walked and SS Jose Garcia (1-4) singled to start the inning. 3B Kolbrin Vitek (0-3) and RF Bryce Brentz (0-3) each walked. Sanchez scored from third base to cut the lead to 2-1.

LF Brandon Jacobs (1-3) singled to scored Garcia and tie the score at 2-2.

1B Miles Head (1-3) followed with a bases-clearing triple to push the lead to 5-2. DH David Renfroe (2-4) drove in Head to make it 6-2.

The Tigers started their comeback in the third inning. Perry singled and scored on a two-run home run by Enos to cut the lead to 6-4.

Connecticut scored a run in the fifth inning when Ashenbrenner led off the inning with a single. He moved to third base on a double by Perry. Enos grounded out to first base and Ashenbrenner scored to make it 6-5.

The Spinners scored a run in the eighth inning to push the lead to 7-5 before the Tigers finished their comeback in the ninth inning.

Matt Mansilla (0-0) came into the game to pinch-hit for LF Chao-Ting Tang (0-3) and worked a walk. He went to second base on a single by RF Londell Taylor.

Rowland laid down a sacrifice bunt to third base. After the Spinners recorded the out at first base, the Tigers had runners at second and third base with one out in the inning. Nunez dropped a single into the outfield to score Mansilla and get the Tigers within one run at 7-6.

Ashenbrenner walked to load the bases and Perry struck out. Enos hit a bloop single to score both Taylor and Nunez and make it 8-7.

Tiger Tracks: RHP Robbie Weinhardt continued his rehabilitation with the Tigers. He pitched the eighth inning and allowed one run on one hit. He walked one and struck out one man to pick up the win. He joined the Tigers on Wednesday from AAA Toledo and pitched one scoreless inning Wednesday's 6-1 loss. RHP Matt Little nailed down the ninth inning to pick up his first save of the season.

The Tigers return to Norwich for the home-opener against the Vermont Lake Monsters on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The Tigers will be giving away Magnet Schedules to the first 5,000 fans sponsored by the AT T Yellow Pages. There will also be a spectacular fireworks show after the game. Vermont will send LHP Bobby Hansen (1-0, 0.00) to the mound against RHP Josue Carreno (0-1, 8.00). NORWICH-RHP Josue Carreno (1-1) pitched five scoreless innings and the Connecticut Tigers (5-4) scored four runs in the third inning to earn a 7-1 win over the Vermont Lake Monsters (6-3) before 3,120 fans at Dodd Stadium on Saturday night in the Tigers' home opener. The Tigers sent eight men to the plate in the third inning. CF Jeff Rowland (2-5) led off the inning with a single and moved to third base on a single by 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (3-3), 1B James Robbins (2-4) hit a two-run single to score Rowland and Ashenbrenner and make it 2-0. DH Matt Perry (1-3) continued the inning a single to center field. An errant throw to the plate by Vermont CF Chad Mozingo allowed the runners to advance to second and third base. SS Brett Anderson hit a two-run single to center field to score Robbins and Perry and make it 4-0. Connecticut tacked on two runs in the fourth inning. RF Londell Taylor (1-4) hit a leadoff double and moved to third base on a double by 2B Alexander Nunez (1-5). Nunez, who hit a ball underneath the glove of Vermont 3B Stephen King, put runners at second and third with one out.

C Julio Rodriguez (1-4) followed with a two-run double to score both Taylor and Nunez and advance the score to 6-0.

In the fifth inning, DH Matt Perry (1-3) walked and moved to second base on a throwing error by King. Rowland hit an RBI single to score Perry and make it 7-0.

The Lake Monsters scored a run in the seventh inning. SS Jason Martinson (1-2) walked and went to second base on a walk to 1B Ronnie LaBrie (0-2). DH Hendry Jimenez (1-4) reached base on a throwing error to make it 7-1.

RHP Drew Gagnier and RHP Kevan Hess each pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game for the Tigers.

The Tigers and Lake Monsters conclude their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. The Tigers will host Sunday Funday presented by Dick's Sporting Goods and Michael's Dairy with kids running the bases after the game. NORWICH-The Vermont Lake Monsters (7-3) scored a combined six runs in the third and fourth innings to beat the Connecticut Tigers 7-3 before 1,613 fans at Dodd Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Lake Monsters scored three runs in the third inning against Connecticut (5-5) LHP Lance Baxter (0-2). LF Chad Mozingo (1-4) earned a one-out walk and moved to second base on an errant pickoff attempt by Baxter. 2B Hendry Jimenez (3-4) grounded out to move Mozingo to third base.

SS Jason Martinson (1-4) walked and C David Freitas (2-4) singled. Mozingo scored for a 1-0 Vermont lead.

1B Ronnie LaBrie (2-5) and DH Justin Miller (1-4) each added RBI singles to make the score 3-0.

Vermont scored three more runs in the fourth inning. 3B Jack Walker (0-3) worked a walk and moved to third base on a double by CF Connor Rowe (2-4).

Mozingo hit an RBI groundout to James Robbins at first base and DH Hendry Jimenez (3-4) hit an RBI double to score Rowe. SS Jason Martinson (1-4) singled Jimenez home to make it 6-0.

NORWICH-The Connecticut Tigers (6-5) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning en route to a 6-3 win over the Lowell Spinners (4-7) before 927 fans at Dodd Stadium on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series.

The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning against Lowell RHP Roman Mendez (1-2). LF PJ Polk (1-4) hit a single and stole second base. 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (2-3) hit a single to move Polk to third base, who scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 Tigers lead.

Ashenbrenner advanced to second base on an error by Lowell CF Felix Sanchez and trotted to third base on a wild pitch. An RBI single by C Julio Rodriguez (1-4) scored Ashenbrenner. 1B James Robbins (2-4) hit a single to move Rodriguez to third base, who crossed home plate when 2B Alexander Nunez (0-4) reached base on an error by Lowell SS Jose Garcia. The Tigers took a 3-0 lead.

In the second inning, the Tigers pushed two more runs across home plate. CF Jeff Rowland (2-5) led off the inning with a single and stole second base. A single by Polk moved to Rowland up to third base. Ashenbrenner walked to third base and Rodriguez grounded into a double play to score Rowland. Robbins hit an RBI single to score Polk to make it 5-0.

In the sixth inning, the Spinners scored three runs on a pair of back-to-back homers. 3B Kolbrin Vitek (0-2) led off the inning with a walk and scored when RF Bryce Brentz (2-3) hit a two-run home run over the left field wall to make it 5-2. NORWICH - CF Ryan Enos (1-3) hit an RBI double in the second inning and RHP Luis Sanz (3-0) pitched six scoreless innings to give the Connecticut Tigers (7-5) a 1-0 win over the Lowell Spinners (4-8) before 1,174 fans at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday night.

In the second inning, 1B James Robbins (0-3) reached base on a leadoff walk and moved to second base on a groundout by DH Matt Perry (0-3). Enos hit an RBI double to deep center field to make it 1-0 Tigers.

RHP Michael Torrealba worked three scoreless innings to get his first save of the 2010 season.

Tiger Tracks: Tigers pitchers recorded 13 strikeouts on Tuesday, setting a new single-game high for team strikeouts. The 13 strikeouts breaks the old record of 12 strikeouts, last accomplished on June 22 in Vermont.

Tiger Tracks: The Tigers made a plethora of moves before the game. LHP Lance Baxter was assigned to the GCL Tigers in the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League. OF Jeff Rowland and RHP Matt Little were both promoted to Low A West Michigan in the Midwest League.

The Tigers received OF Les Smith and RHP Tyler White from the GCL Tigers. He hit .368 with one home run and 12 RBI in five games played. RHP Tyler White had appeared in two games for the GCL Tigers and allowed three runs in one and two-thirds innings pitched.

RHP Jordan Pratt and RHP Patrick Cooper also joined the Tigers after signing their professional contracts. Pratt, a 16th round pick of the Tigers this year, joins Connecticut from the University of Arkansas where he completed his junior year, going 3-1 with a 3.76 ERA in 24 relief appearances. Cooper, a 14th round pick, finished his junior season at Bradley University in Peoria, IL; where he went 4-3 with a 3.08 ERA in 15 appearances, (8 starts) in 2010.

The Tigers and Spinners finish their series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. It's Wicked "Wild" Wednesday Four-Pack Frenzy. TROY, NY-The Tri-City ValleyCats scattered three runs over the first five innings to beat the Connecticut Tigers 4-2 before 3,485 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in the opener of a three-game series. The Tigers three-game winning streak comes to an end with the loss.

The ValleyCats scored a run in the first inning against Tigers RHP Josue Carreno (1-2). CF Wilton Infante (0-2) walked and moved to third base on a double by 2B Enrique Hernandez (3-5). RF Michael Kvasnicka (1-4) grounded out to third base to allow Infante to score for a 1-0 ValleyCats lead.

Tri-City tacked on a run in the third inning. Hernandez hit a one-out single and moved to second base on a single by Kvasnicka. A walk to 3B Tyler Burnett (1-2) loaded the bases and a wild pitch by Carreno allowed Hernandez to score for a 2-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, C Ben Heath (1-2) hit a solo home run over the left field wall for a 3-0 lead.

The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh inning to cut the ValleyCats' lead to 3-2. RF Chao-Ting Tang (0-3) was hit by a pitch and moved all the way to third base when CF PJ Polk (1-5) reached base on a two-base throwing error. 2B Alexander Nunez (0-4) grounded out to second base to score Tang and 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-3) singled home Polk to make it 3-2.

Tri-City added an insurance run in the eighth inning. LF Adam Bailey (2-4) doubled and moved to third base on a single by 1B Nick Stanley (0-4). A sacrifice fly by Infante scored Bailey to make it 4-2.

Tigers Win 5-4 in Tri-City Friday

TROY, NY-The Connecticut Tigers (9-6) jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the first five innings and fought off a late comeback by the Tri-City ValleyCats (5-10) to earn a 5-4 win before 3,501 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Friday night.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the first inning. After two quick outs, 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-4) was hit by a pitch. C Julio Rodriguez (1-3) hit a single to drive Ashenbrenner to third base. 1B James Robbins (1-3) hit a single to score Ashenbrenner for a 1-0 Connecticut lead.

In the second inning, LF Les Smith (1-3) led off the inning with a double on a ball that took an unusual hop over the glove of Tri-City first baseman Tyler Burnett and down the left field line. Smith ended up at second base with a double and the Tigers had the leadoff man aboard in scoring position with no one out. SS Brett Anderson (2-4) hit an RBI single to score Smith and make it 2-0.

RF Londell Taylor (1-4) led off the fifth inning and hit a solo home run over the left field wall to make it 3-0 Connecticut.

RHP Brennan Smith tossed four scoreless innings in his first professional start. The ValleyCats scored one run in the fifth inning against Connecticut RHP Tyler Clark (1-0). LF Daniel Adamson (2-3) walked and went to second base on a single by CF Wilton Infante (1-4). A walk to SS Ben Orloff (2-3) loaded the bases for 2B Enrique Hernandez (1-4), who grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Adamson to make it 3-1.

The Tigers scored a run in the sixth inning to make it 4-1. Robbins was hit by a pitch and went to second base on a sacrifice by DH Matt Perry (1-4). Smith grounded out and Anderson hit an RBI single to make it 4-1.

The ValleyCats scored a single run in the sixth inning against Clark. Connecticut re-gained it's three-run lead in the seventh inning. CF P.J. Polk (0-4) walked and stole second and third base. 2B Alexander Nunez (1-4) popped out to center field to score Polk to make it 5-2.

Tri-City continued to chip away at the lead with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. SS Orloff walked in the seventh inning, went to second base on a single by C Michael Kvasnicka (1-5). DH Ben Heath (0-5) reached base on an error and 1B Tyler Burnett (1-4) forced a bases loaded walk to make it 5-3.

The Tigers scored a run in the eighth inning against Connecticut RHP Tyler White, who made his Tigers debut. He allowed one run in a third of an inning. RHP Kevan Hess pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first save of the season.

The Tigers and ValleyCats finish their three-game series on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. RHP Clemente Mendoza (1-1, 4.08) gets the start for the Connecticut Tigers against RHP Carlos Quevedo (0-1, 2.20) for the ValleyCats. ValleyCats Take Series with 10-2 Win

TROY, NY-The Tri-City ValleyCats (6-10) scored ten runs over the first two innings to beat the Connecticut Tigers (9-6) by a score of 10-2 before 4,525 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Saturday.

The ValleyCats sent nine men to the plate in the first inning against Connecticut RHP Clemente Mendoza (1-1). 3B Ben Orloff (0-3) walked and scored on a double by 2B Enrique Hernandez (2-5).

DH Michael Kvasnicka (1-2) singled and C Ben Heath (1-3) walked to load the bases. 1B Tyler Burnett (2-3) hit a two-run double to score Hernandez and Kvasnicka and make it 3-0.

CF Daniel Adamson (2-3) singled home Heath to make it 4-0.

Tri-City scored six runs in the second inning against the Tigers, keyed by a two-run home run fro RF Adam Bailey (1-4) to advance the score to 10-0.

Mendoza lasted just an inning and a third while LHP Logan Hoch pitched three and two-thirds scoreless innings. He retired 11 consecutive batters and surrendered the game to RHP Drew Gagnier, who retired the first four hitters he faced. Tigers pitching retired 15 consecutive hitters in a streak ranging from the second to the seventh inning.

The Tigers started their scoring in the fourth inning. 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-4) singled and moved to third base on a single by C Julio Rodriguez (2-3). 1B James Robbins (0-4) grounded out to second base. Ashenbrenner scored and Rodriguez moved to third base.

Once SS Brett Anderson (0-3) reached base on an error, Rodriguez scored to make it 10-2.

TIGER TRACKS: The Tigers announced the promotion of two pitchers after the game Friday. RHP Jordan Pratt and RHP Luis Sanz both received promotions to West Michigan of the Midwest League. Pratt did not appear in a game for the Tigers while Sanz went 3-0 with a 0.56 ERA in three starts. He allowed just one earned run in 16 innings pitched.

Tigers Win 6-1 on the 4th of July

NORWICH-The Connecticut Tigers (10-7) scored four unearned runs and retired 17 consecutive hitters to earn a 6-1 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (8-9) before 1,086 fans at Dodd Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers scored a run in the first inning against Mahoning Valley LHP Kirk Wetmore (0-1). CF Ryan Enos (3-5) singled and moved to third base when 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (0-4) reached base on an error. A sacrifice fly by 1B Matt Perry (3-3) scored Enos to make it 1-0.

The Scrappers scored a run in the second inning to tie the game. RF Carlos Moncrief (1-3) tripled and 1B Moises Montero (1-4) singled.

Connecticut scored three runs in the third inning thanks to two errors by the Scrappers. RF Chao-Ting Tang (1-3) walked and moved to third base on a double by 2B Ryan Soares (2-4). A fielding error by Mahoning Valley LF Brian Heese allowed Tang to score and make it 2-1.

Enos hit a single and moved to second base on the throw from centerfield. Soares ended up at third base and both runners scored on a throwing error by Scrappers' second baseman Kevin Fontanez. He tried to play a bouncing ball hit up the middle by Ashenbrenner and threw wide of the bag at first base. The Tigers took a 4-1 lead.

SS Brett Anderson (2-5) hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to make the score 5-1 Connecticut.

RHP Patrick Cooper (1-0) was stellar in his first start of the season for Connecticut. He allowed just one run on two hits in five innings. Cooper and RHP Patrick Lawson took over in the sixth inning. Both Cooper and Lawson combined to retire 17 consecutive batters from the second inning through the seventh inning.

The Tigers added a run in the eighth inning when Soares singled and moved to second base on a wild pitch. DH Tyson Kendrick (1-4) singled and Enos grounded into a double play. Soares crossed home plate to make it 6-1.

The Tigers and Scrappers continue their series on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. It's Military Appreciation Night at Dodd Stadium. Mahoning Valley Evens Series With 8-3 Win

NORWICH-The Mahoning Valley Scrappers (9-9) scored five runs in the fifth inning to cruise to an 8-3 win over the Connecticut Tigers (10-8) before 1104 fans at Dodd Stadium on Monday night.

The Scrappers scored two runs in the fourth inning against Connecticut LHP Rayni Guichardo (1-1). C Wyatt Torregas (1-3) singled and moved to second base when 3B Giovhanny Urshela (0-5) reached on an error. A two-run double by RF Carlos Moncrief (2-5) made it 2-0 Mahoning Valley.

Mahoning Valley scored four runs in the fifth inning. 1B Chase Burnette (1-5) smacked a two-run home run over the right field wall against RHP Tyler White to make it 4-0. At the end of the inning, the Scrappers had a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers broke through with two runs in the sixth inning against RHP Alex Kaminsky (3-1). RF Londell Taylor (1-3) led off the inning with a triple and scored on a double by CF PJ Polk (2-4), who moved to third base on a throwing error by Scrappers' left fielder Kevin Rucker. 2B Alexander Nunez (1-4) hit a single to score Polk and make it 7-2.

In the eighth inning, LF Kevin Rucker (2-3) led off the inning for Mahoning Valley and singled. He moved to second base on a groundout by CF Brian Heere (2-3) and scored on a double by SS Tyler Cannon (2-5) to make it 8-2.

The Tigers scored a single run in the ninth inning. 1B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-4) singled and scored on a double by C Julio Rodriguez (2-4).

NORWICH-The Connecticut Tigers (11-8) got an RBI single in the 10th inning from C Julio Rodriguez (2-5) to earn a 5-4 win against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (9-10) before 907 fans at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday night. The Tigers scored a run in the second inning against Mahoning Valley RHP Owen Dew. 1B James Robbins (2-4) tripled and scored a sacrifice fly by DH Eric Roof (0-3). The Scrappers tied the game in the third inning on doubles by C Diego Seastrunk (1-3) and CF Brian Heere (1-2). SS Tyler Cannon (1-5) also doubled to score Heere to make it 2-1.

Mahoning Valley scored two runs in the fourth inning. 3B Guiovhanny Urshela (2-4) singled and moved to third base when DH Andrew Kinney (1-5) reached on an error. Seastrunk hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Urshela scored for a 3-1 lead. Cannon reached on an error that allowed Kenney to score and make the score 4-1.

The Tigers got a run back in the fourth inning. 2B Alexander Nunez (4-5) tripled and scored on a groundout by 3B Matt Perry (0-4) to get within two runs at 4-2.

Connecticut scored two runs in the eighth inning, SS Ryan Soares (2-4) hit a solo home run to lead off the inning and CF P.J. Polk (1-5) singled. He stole second base and moved to third base when Nunez laid down a sacrifice bunt. Perry grounded into a fielder's choice to score Polk and tie the game at 4-4.

In the 10th inning, Soares singled and moved to second base on a single by Nunez. Perry grounded out to second base to advance both runners and Rodriguez hit a single that sneaked through into center field to score Soares with the winning run.

Tiger Tracks: RHP Michael Torrealba pitched three scoreless innings for Connecticut and racked up eight strikeouts, a new season high. The mark surpassed his previous season high of seven strikeouts set in Lowell on June 29.

After an off day on Wednesday, the Tigers hit the road for six days beginning on Thursday night in Batavia, NY against the Batavia Muckdogs, the NY-Penn League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Tigers Win 4-2 In Batavia in 10 Innings

BATAVIA, NY-The Connecticut Tigers (12-8) scored two runs in the 10th inning to break a 2-2 tie and beat the Batavia Muckdogs (9-11) before 804 fans at Dwyer Stadium on Thursday night.

In the first inning, CF P.J. Polk (1-5) led off the inning with a solo home run over the left field wall for a 1-0 Tigers lead.

The MuckDogs came back with a solo home run from 1B Jon Rodriguez (1-4) to lead off the second inning against RHP Brennan Smith.

The Tigers took the lead in the fifth inning. RF Chao-Ting Tang (3-3) doubled and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Polk. 2B Alexander Nunez (1-5) laced an RBI single to score Tang for a 2-1 Tigers advantage.

The Muckdogs scored another run in the sixth inning against RHP Drew Gagnier. DH Jon Edwards (1-4) led off the inning with a single and moved to second base when SS Yunier Castillo (1-4) laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached on a late throw to second base. Both runners advanced into scoring position on a past ball. 2B Colin Walsh (0-5) reached base on a fielder's choice and Edwards scored to tie the game at 2-2.

The Tigers scored two runs in the 10th inning to pick up the 4-2 win. 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (0-5) reached base on an error and scored on a triple by C Eric Roof. 1B James Robbins (3-4) hit a single to score Roof.

RHP Brennan Smith pitched five innings and allowed one run on two hits. RHP Kevan Hess (1-) got the win by pitching two scoreless innings.

The doubleheader Saturday concludes the series between the Tigers and Muckdogs. RHP Clemente Mendoza (1-2, 8.05) gets the start for Connecticut against LHP Justin Edwards (1-1, 2.16) for Batavia in game one. The Tigers and Muckdogs have yet to announce starters for game two. BATAVIA, NY- The Batavia Muckdogs (10-12) won the first game of a doubleheader 5-3 before the Connecticut Tigers (13-9) won 8-1 in the nightcap before 1,100 fans at Dwyer Stadium on Saturday night.

In game one, the Muckdogs scored a run in the first inning against Connecticut RHP Clemente Mendoza (1-3). LF Mike O'Neil (2-2) led off with a walk and stole second base. 2B Matt Valaika (1-3) singled O'Neil to third base and scored when CF Nicholas Longmire (0-3) hit into a fielder's choice. The MuckDogs had a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers scored a run in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1. 1B James Robbins (1-3) led off with a double and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by LF Matt Mansilla (0-2). A sacrifice fly by RF Londell Taylor (0-2) scored Robbins.

Batavia scored two runs in the second inning on a two-run home run by C Audry Perez (1-3).

Connecticut tied the game at 3-3 with single runs in the third and fourth innings. In the third inning, 2B Alexander Nunez (2-3) singled and moved to third base on a double by 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (3-3). An RBI groundout by SS Brett Anderson (0-3) scored Nunez to make it 3-2.

In the fourth inning, DH Tyson Kendrick (0-2) and CF P.J. Polk (0-3) worked back-to-back walks. A single by Nunez scored Kendrick to make it 3-3.

The Muckdogs scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead. RF Jon Edwards (1-2) singled and was lifted in favor of pinch-runner Adam Melker (0-0). SS Yunier Castillo (0-1) hit a sacrifice bunt to move Melker to second base. He scored on an RBI single by LF Mike O'Neil (2-2) for a 4-3 lead.

O'Neil moved to second base on an error by RF Londell Taylor and stole third base. He scored when 2B Matt Valaika (1-3) reached base on a fielder's choice.

The Tigers scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead. RF Chao-Ting Tang (1-4), LF Les Smith (2-4) and SS Ryan Soares (2-4) each singled to load the bases.

Polk hit an RBI single to score Tang. Enos and Ashenbrenner each received bases-loaded walks and the Tigers had a 6-1 lead.

Connecticut added two runs in the sixth inning on a two-run single by C Eric Roof (2-4). The Tigers had an 8-1 lead.

The Tigers travel to Williamsport, PA to battle the Williamsport Crosscutters in the first of a three-game series on Sunday night. WILLIAMSPORT, PA-The Williamsport Crosscutters (12-11) scored eight runs on eight hits to beat the Connecticut Tigers 8-2 in the opener of a three-game series before 3,032 fans at Bowman Field on Sunday night.

The Crosscutters scored two runs in the first inning against Tigers starter Patrick Cooper (1-1). 2B Cesar Hernandez (2-4) doubled and moved to third base on a groundout by 1B Jeff Cusick (0-3).

LF Michael Dabbs (1-4) hit a double and Hernandez scored for a 1-0 lead. RF Domingo Santana (2-3) smacked a double to plate Dabbs for a 2-0 Williamsport advantage.

The Crosscutters tacked on another run in the second inning. CF Miguel Alvarez (3-4) singled and stole second base. He moved to third base when SS Edgar Duran (0-2) struck out on a dropped third strike. Hernandez hit an RBI single to score Alvarez and make it 3-0.

In the fifth inning, Alvarez hit a two-run home run to make it 5-0.

Williamsport scored three more runs in the sixth inning against Tigers LHP Logan Hoch to make it 8-0.

The Tigers (13-10) scored two runs in the ninth inning to erase the shutout. CF PJ Polk (3-3) walked and stole second base. He moved to third base on a fly out by DH Ryan Enos (1-4). 3B Matt Perry (1-4) hit an RBI single to score Polk.

1B James Robbins (1-4) followed with a double to plate Perry and make it 8-2.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA-The Williamsport Crosscutters (13-11) scored two runs in the seventh inning to come back from a 2-1 deficit and beat the Connecticut Tigers 3-2 before 1,137 fans at Bowman Field on Monday night.

The Tigers (13-11) jumped out to the early lead with a run in the third inning. SS Brett Anderson (1-3) hit a one-out double and moved to third base on a groundout by RF Chao-Ting Tang (0-3). CF P.J. Polk (1-4) hit an RBI single to score Anderson for a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, C Julio Rodriguez (0-4) reached base on a fielder's choice and DH Eric Roof (2-3) worked a walk. 2B Alexander Nunez (1-3) hit a single to score Rodriguez for a 2-0 Tigers lead.

Crosscutters Complete Sweep with 7-4 Win

WILLIAMSPORT, PA- The Williamsport Crosscutters (14-11) scored five runs over the third and fourth innings to beat the Connecticut Tigers 7-4 before 1,234 fans at Bowman Field on Tuesday night.

The Tigers (13-12) scored two runs in the second inning against Williamsport LHP Mario Hollands (2-1). DH Matt Perry (1-3) and SS Brett Anderson (1-4) hit back-to-back singles. Anderson moved to second base on an error and the Tigers had two-runners in scoring position for LF Matt Mansilla (1-4), who dropped a single into right field to score both runners for a 2-0 lead.

The Crosscutters scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. CF Kyrell Hudson (3-4) singled and stole second base. He scored on a single by SS Matt McConnell (3-4).

Williamsport added a run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Alvarez to advance the score to 6-3.

Connecticut loaded the bases in the eighth inning. 2B Alexander Nunez (2-4) singled and went to second base on a walk by C Julio Rodriguez (0-3). The Tigers inserted Chao-Ting Tang (0-0) into the game to pinch run for Rodriguez. A wild pitch moved Nunez and Tang into scoring position and Perry walked to load the bases.

Anderson grounded into a fielder's choice. Nunez scored to make it 6-4.

In the seventh inning, Williamsport added an insurance run to round out the scoring at 7-4.

NORWICH-The State College Spikes (14-12) scored 11 runs on 13 hits to beat the (13-13) Connecticut Tigers 11-1 before 724 fans at Dodd Stadium on Wednesday night.

State College scored two runs in the first inning against Connecticut RHP Brennan Smith (0-1). 2B Walker Gourley (0-4) worked a one-out walk and moved to second base when RF Adalberto Santos (2-5) reached on a fielder's choice.

1B Matt Curry (3-3) and DH Chase Lyles (2-4) hit back-to-back singles to score Gourley and Santos respectively and make it a 2-0 State College lead.

Connecticut scored three runs in the third inning against State College LHP Zack Dodson (0-2). 2B Alexander Nunez (1-4) doubled and scored on a single by 3B Matt Perry (3-4). Robbins hit a two-run single to score both men and make it 3-0.

In the fifth inning, Perry led off with a single and moved to second on a single by Sedon. C Julio Rodriguez (0-3) grounded into a double play. With Perry moving to third base, Robbins hit a double to score Perry and make it 4-0.

The Tigers added a run in the eighth inning. SS Ryan Soares (1-4) led off the inning with a single and proceeded to steal second and third base. RF Londell Taylor (1-4) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score both Soares and make it 5-0.

The Tigers and Spikes finish their series on Friday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Quinton Miller (0-0, 5.40) gets the start for State College against RHP Patrick Cooper (1-1, 4.09) for Connecticut. It's a Friday Fireworks Show presented by XtraMart and Atlas PyroVision after the game.

NORWICH- RHP Patrick Cooper (2-1) pitched six innings and struck out seven men to lead the Connecticut Tigers(15-13) to a 2-1 win over the State College Spikes (14-15) before 2,275 fans at Dodd Stadium on Friday night.

The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning against State College RHP Quinton Miller (0-1). 2B Alexander Nunez (1-3) singled and went to second base on a single by 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (2-3). DH Matt Perry (0-3) reached base on a fielder's choice and a throwing error by State College 2B Andy Vasquez allowed Nunez to score.

Ashenbrenner moved up to third base on the error and scored on a sacrifice fly by C Julio Rodriguez (1-3) for a 2-0 Connecticut lead.

The Spikes scored a run in the third inning. DH Matt Curry (0-3) walked and stole second base. An RBI double by 1B Gerlis Rodriguez (2-3) scored Curry for a 2-1 Tigers lead.

Connecticut begins a three-game series on the road at Hudson Valley, the short-season A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. LHP Rayni Guichardo (1-1, 4.57) gets the start for Connecticut against RHP Jake Thompson (0-0, 0.00) from Hudson Valley. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at milb.com.

The Tigers' next home stand begins Tuesday, July 20 against the Vermont Lake Monsters, the short-season A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY-The Hudson Valley Renegades (12-16) scored seven runs over the first four innings to beat the Connecticut Tigers 10-2 before 3,831 fans at Duchess Stadium on Saturday night.

The Tigers (15-14) scored three runs in the first inning against Tigers LHP Rayni Guichardo (1-2). LF Steve Tinoco (3-4) singled and moved to second base on a balk. 3B Nick Schwaner (1-4) singled home Tinoco for a 1-0 Renegades lead.

1B Phil Wunderlich (2-4) smacked a two-run home run to make it 3-0.

The Renegades scored four runs over the next four innings to increase their lead to 7-1.

Connecticut scored a single run in the fourth inning. With one out, 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (0-4) was hit by a pitch. He was lifted from the game in favor of pinch-runner James Robbins (0-2). He moved to second base on a throwing error by Renegades catcher Alejandro Torres and scored on a double by C Julio Rodriguez (1-3) to make it 7-1.

After the Renegades scored two runs in the sixth inning, Connecticut scored a run in the seventh inning. Rodriguez walked and moved to second base on a wild pitch. DH Eric Roof (2-4)doubled to scored Rodriguez to make it 9-2.

TIGER TRACKS: The Tigers made a pair of roster moves before the game, adding RHP Sean Finefrock from the GCL Tigers and RHP Miguel Mejia from Low A West Michigan. Mejia went 1-0 with a 4.05 ERA in seven appearances. He started the year in Lakeland (High A) in the Florida State League and went 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 15 appearances.

RHP Sean Finefrock also joined the team from the GCL Tigers. He went 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in four appearances. Finefrock pitched the final two innings on Saturday and surrendered one run on one hit.

Connecticut continues it's three-game series on the road at Hudson Valley on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. RHP Josue Carreno (1-3, 5.06) gets the start for Connecticut against RHP Miguel Sierra (2-1, 4.97) from Hudson Valley. Pre-game coverage begins at 4:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at milb.com.
