Can you please give me a definition of arbitration? Only, if there is anything else to it that you didn't already put.

I doubt he would ask to make anymore than that, he never has.

Arbitration (my definition...this isn't the exact version)

Basically this means a player is under the control of the other team. (How a guy is arbitration eligible vs. a free agent is not important, just know he's arbitration eligible).

He does NOT have a contract for next year. The Tigers have until December something (I don't know the exact date) to sign him otherwise they go into arbitration.

In arbitration the Tigers submit what they want to pay him and Durbin submits what they want to pay him. They go to a hearing and some arbitrators (lawyers) listen to each sides case (as presented by the owners and GM representing the team and the player and his agent representing the player) and decide which offer is most fair and that's what he gets.

Teams don't like to go to arbitration because it involves the team basically talking trash about the player. Something like "Durbin sucks because ... He can't do this, this, or that, etc.

Afterwards the team will assure they didn't mean any of that but it might hurt a guy's self-asteem or something.

Since Dombrowski took over NO PLAYER has had to go to arbitration.

Also, teams can decline to offer arbitration (like they will for Casey and Neifi) and the player is an instant free agent. Thames is also arbitration eligible this year along with a few others.

I saw that in Multimedia around 12:50 this afternoon and almost had a breakdown in the middle of my class. I had tears in my eyes. This just isn't happening, or maybe it is....

That was my whole thinking about JJ, that would be good. We are already going watch the Braves, so we'll just see what happens.

You can probably stop checking. Most trades happen around 1:00 my time. It's 7:00 PM in TN now. I'd be reasonably surprised if any more trades were made today.
