There was lots of dirt on Clinton's daughter, but the news people elected to follow the standard of leaving the kids of the politicians out of the race!

I am a Democrat, but the crap being put out by the far left is beyond respectable..... it makes me ashamed to be an American to see how low Americans can go to try to get a person elected. I was glad to see Obama take a stand AGAINST THIS FORM OF SLIME!

No matter who is elected, America has taken a step further down in the gutter!

In a totally random bit of political news....

People in Northern Ireland seem to prefer to remain a part of the United Kingdom. People in the Repubic of Ireland overwhelmingly want a unified Ireland. In Great Britain, a large majority of people think that Northern Ireland should be unified with the Republic of Ireland Stunned I would have never guessed that!

Personally, I am in favor of a united Ireland.

Not that this matters to anyone but me, but here's CA's propositions this year and my take....

Proposition 1 is to fund a high-speed rail line from SF to LA....
I need to research this further, but based on that I'll say yes.

Proposition 2 is regarding the treatment of livestock...
Again, I need to research further but at the moment I could care less. Let me flip a coin...tails so no.

Proposition 3 is for funding of children's hospitals.
I have nothing against children, but I don't think we need special hospitals for them. Everyone should use the same hospitals - it just makes more sense. Therefore, no.

Proposition 4 requires a waiting period and parental notification prior to an abortion.
This one's easy...no.

Proposition 5 deals with nonviolent offenders.
There's no more information on wikipedia but since they're nonviolent I'm not really worried about them so no.

Proposition 6 deals with criminal penalties and public safety funding.
Wikipedia has no more information so I'll say no until I get more information.

Proposition 7 is an initiative for renewable energy.
I saw a commercial and supposedly the people that do renewable energy want you to vote no on this since it sucks. I like renewable energy so if they say to vote no I'll go with them...no.

Proposition 8 would create a state constitutional amendment which bans currently legal gay marriage.
This is the easiest one on here...no Censored way.
Current polls say somewhere between 40-41% of people would vote yes, about 53% would vote no, and the rest are undecided.

Proposition 9 is more criminal stuff.
The wikipedia article is too long to read at the moment but it has something to do with victim's rights, parole, etc.
At the moment I'm not entirely sure what this is so no.

Proposition 10 authorizes bonds for renewable energy.
Wikipedia has no more information, but if I'm reading that right they want to sell savings bonds and use the money to develop renewable energy. I see no harm in that so yes.

Proposition 11 has to do with redistricting.
There's no more information on wikipedia but I'm assuming this is for no more gerrymandering. If that's the case then yes otherwise no.

Proposition 12 would assist veterans in buying property.
I don't want to offend anyone so I won't go into detail here. No.

That's it unless there's some local measures which I'm sure there are.

I guess we're talking politics in general here so here's a story (it's actually from August though so I'm a little slow)....

Louisiana Gov. Jindal Drops Anti-Gay Discrimination Order

So much for the politics of conservative compassion supposedly signfied by the recent election of Bobby Jindal as Louisiana's new governor. Jindal will drop an executive order prohibiting employment discrimination against gay and lesbian state employees that was put in place in 2004 by his Democratic predecessor.

The order expires on Friday. Jindal says it "shouldn't come as a surprise" he will not renew the discrimination protections. "The reason for allowing the order to lapse is that I don’t think it is necessary to create additional special categories or special rights," Jindal tells The New Orleans Advocate. The governor adds: "We are firmly and strongly committed to fair treatment of all of our people and certainly don’t condone discrimination in any form."

Former Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco enacted the order on Dec. 6, 2004. The order bars state agencies and contractors from various sorts of harassment and discrimination by race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation or disabilities. Louisiana was the only state in the deep south to protect its LGBT state employees.

Jindal fought the order since its inception. When Blanco announced in 2005 she was preparing the order, Jindal, "then a member of Congress, joined with Sen. James David Cain and two Republican members of the Legislature to fight the measure." Meanwhile, the Louisiana legislature has rejected several proposals aimed at ensuring equal legal protections for gays and lesbians.

Bobby Jindal is widely rumored to be on the short list as a potential vice presidential running mate for John McCain. Jindal's rejection of employment discrimination rights for gay state employees comes only days after McCain said he could not choose a "pro-gay rights" running mate. Sounds like the message was received loud and clear.

-------------------------------------

Pretty sickening that discrimination is allowed in this day and age. A real shame that Louisiana goes from the only Southern state to get it right to conforming with the rest of the south.

Speaking of this governor, there was serious talk of recalling him...just 6 months after he took office. I mean I know politicians are almost always crooks, but usually they're popular longer than that. The petition was dropped after he changed his mind and didn't allow people working for the state legislature to receive a raise of 100%.

You had to do that, I really like Jindal too.
He speaks well too, much better than Blanco for sure.
And he handled the hurricane preparations and aftermath about 1000X better than during Katrina, that's for sure.

But he got rid of the law that was already there. I just don't understand why anyone, especially a minority, would work so hard to get rid of something that makes discrimination illegal.

There was a debate last night but I didn't watch so I can't comment on how it went.

CNN and CBS polls both said Obama was the "winner" as did the writer for Yahoo.
