| I was just reading some baseball quotes. These I like especially:
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. ~A. Bartlett Giamatti, "The Green Fields of the Mind," Yale Alumni Magazine, November 1977
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~Rogers Hornsby
A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz. ~Humphrey Bogart
There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit. ~Al Gallagher, 1971
That's the true harbinger of spring, not crocuses or swallows returning to Capistrano, but the sound of a bat on a ball. ~Bill Veeck, 1976
Don't tell me about the world. Not today. It's springtime and they're knocking baseball around fields where the grass is damp and green in the morning and the kids are trying to hit the curve ball. ~Pete Hamill
And probably my all-time favorite:
You see, you spend a good piece of your life gripping a baseball, and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time. ~Jim Bouton, Ball Four, 1970

| And a couple that hit home for Tiger fans (pun intended):
I've come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good bullpen. ~Bob Lemon, 1981
Pro-rated at 500 at-bats a year that means that for two years out of the fourteen I played, I never even touched the ball. ~Norm Cash, on his 1,081 strikeouts

| I've always liked this one:
Baseball just a came as simple as a ball and bat. Yet, as complex as the American spirit it symbolizes. A sport, a business and sometimes almost even a religion. Ernie Harwell

| Here is some I stole from my friend.
Why does everybody stand up and sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" when they're already there? ~Larry Anderson
Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona. ~George F. Will, Men at Work: The Craft of Baseball, 1990
I thought those were really cool.

Yogi Berra Yogi Berra had the best quotes! - Yogi Berra wrote:
- A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.
I always thought that record would stand until it was broken. If people don't want to come out to the ballpark, how are you going to stop them? I never said most of the things I said. It gets late early out there. It's like deja vu all over again. Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded. The game's isn't over until it's over. You can observe a lot just by watching. You should always go to other people's funerals, otherwise, they won't come to yours. We made too many wrong mistakes. When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
