Bannister is a good pitcher. On a team that only won 60some games last year, he won 12 games. As a rookie. (which according to mario was the 2nd highest wins among rookies last year second only to Matsusaka). Don't be surprised when this guy dominates.

You didn't really state an opinion though. You just said the tigers are making this no name guy look like cy young. I take it you're watching the game right? It's not the tigers making him look like Cy Young it's his pitching that is. He's nibbling the corners and throwing some nasty breaking balls. He's doing what Kenny does - only it's coming from his right hand instead of his left.

Jacque Jones looks horrible.

The excuse of " it is cold" is just ignorant ROD. He says this like we are the only team that went from Florida or somewhere warm to somewhere that isn't 80 degrees. Where did the Royals play? Indians? Yankees? Res Sox? None of them are looking like cr.ap like we are but yet we continue to allow them to look like this like last year to start the season and accept that this lame excuse is legit

well that is your opinion and i respect it
still with that offense you have to find a way to beat this guy its not just his use of the corners
every pitcher can do it shoot it to the opposite field but do something,
they have to make him work and not doin some unpatient stuff at the plate

I'm sorry I guess it just irks me when someone puts a pitcher down just because they haven't heard of him. He's pitched a great game and it won't be his last so some credit should be given. The Tigers aren't beating themselves, he's beating them.

Now if we were talking about Monday, the Tigers beat themselves. They had ample opportunities to blow the game open and get Meche out of there but they failed to do it. Today, it's all Bannister.

I have to agree with you. However Maggs had a decent day yesterday. Pitching will not get much better than this, and we have to start scoring runs. Several games in which our hitters will destroy a team will not make up for the rest of games when will lose 0-4, 0-2, 3-4, etc.... This is how we managed to avoid playoffs last year.

I agree whole heartedly. With the two starts we have had they looked great through 5, we needed to get them a lead so they can feel more secure and not have to pitch perfectly. Both games too me were on the offense. I can't believe that we were shutout.
