DETROIT
-- Condolences to Tiger Hall of Famer George Kell, whose 62-year-old
son, George Clyde Kell, Jr., died last week of cancer at his home in
Newport, Ark.
George Kell, now 85, played for the Tigers from 1946-52, and
broadcast Tiger games all but one year from 1959-96. He retired from
broadcasting in January 1997. | |
