I know how you feel running and not having your inhaler. I have asthma too. A key is to use the inhaler BEFORE you run! But then won't it not work as well? Because it works to help me breath again I didn't think it would help prevent me from not being able to breath..... If it is albuterol (Provental) it will prevent an attack. My Allergist has had me use my inhaler BEFORE doing things that induce asthma attacks for years! I always use it before exercise, or cutting the grass, or shoveling snow. My asthma is induced by exercize, and also allergens (grass). My inhaler is albuterol. And wow, I never knew that. My asthma only really matters when I'm excercising, and then I have some problems. Which sucks with rowing.... See, ya learned something new today. Drs. would rather prevent your attack, than have it treated after it starts! From Mayo clinic: - Quote :

Because exercise-induced asthma has the same symptoms and results from the same airway reaction involved in regular asthma, standard asthma medications can control it. Depending on the severity and frequency of your symptoms, your doctor may prescribe:
- A short-acting inhaled bronchodilator,
such as albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin, ProAir) or pirbuterol (Maxair), used 15 minutes before exercise to prevent symptoms for about four hours.

| So I ended up getting a 97% in gym after the exam was added in. I got a 152 out of 175. I'm mad she took off that much when it isn't MY fault that I can't run well. But whatever. I still got an A in the class. So I'm happy. | |
