A's Sweeney to have knee surgery, miss 4-6 weeks
Mike Sweeney of the A's will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left knee Wednesday and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Sweeney, a designated hitter and first baseman who turns 35 next month, will have an operation by team orthopedist Dr. John Frazier to repair cartilage in his knee.
Rays pitcher and catcher scuffle in the dugout
Rays starting pitcher Matt Garza and catcher Dioner Navarro had to be separated after arguing in the dugout during Sunday's game at Texas.
Television cameras caught Garza and Navarro face-to-face in the dugout and in an apparent scuffle that spilled into the tunnel leading to the clubhouse after the fourth inning.
Manager Joe Maddon, pitching coach Jim Hickey and others could be seen rushing to break up the fracas. It wasn't clear if any punches were thrown.

Blue Jays outfielder Shannon Stewart was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right ankle, and outfielder Joe Inglett was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.
