| Setting aside universities, why is it better to live in one of these states compared to the other... | |

| In defense of Ohio... The ground is solid here...Hurricanes don't make it this far inland. And the biggest news here in Toledo tends to be the weather. | |

| As well as the fact here in Toledo I am 10 minutes from the Hens, 1 hour from the Tigers and Red Wings. And 2 hours from the best damn team in the land..Ohio State Buckeyes (oops I am supposed to leave colleges out of it) Also Ann Arbor, Cleveland and Cincinatti are all within driving distance. Also in Toledo it takes minutes to get anywhere in the city. I Toledo...Alot of people here put it down, but its a great town with a great history. | |

| And we have lower property taxes, and NO SALES TAX ON FOOD! I may have been born and raised in MI, but Ohio has been more economically better than MI was. I also am thinking of moving near Toledo so I can enjoy the Tigers and hens, but live cheaper! | |

Well....the house next door to me is up for sale, and I only live 45 minutes from downtown Toledo, 45 minutes from downtown Cleveland, and 20 minutes from Cedar Point. Oh....and taxes here are CHEAP compared to other parts of the area....lol

| We had to move to MI because of my husband's job, but I think we'll retire in Toledo!
....that is, if we can sell our house! We live in a cul-de-sac and have had 2 houses in it for sale for at least 2 years. (Just got a notice that our property value dropped $3700 from last year....CRAP) One house just sold and the lady is moving in. The other one has seen a daily barrage of month-to-month renters, none of which are very friendly or appear somewhat stable!

| When I'm ready to retire, I think it's going to be somewhere warm where I don't have to shovel snow. lol | |

| We lived in California for 17 years....not all that great. No snow but lots of tradeoffs....increased cost of living, higher crime rate, etc. etc. We'll take the snow. (You gotta stop tryin' to share the snow with everybody, Ohio! You'll really hurt your back! And you're supposed to be my nurse at the assisted living facility, don't forget! ) | |

(You gotta stop tryin' to share the snow with everybody, Ohio! You'll really hurt your back! And you're supposed to be my nurse at the assisted living facility, don't forget!) I haven't really decided what I want to do. The more I think about it snow might not be the greatest thing ever. Then again, you're right - the cost of living here is incredible. I've grown to really like the town I live in so if I had to guess I'll be living there 25 years from now. It's a smaller town (30,000ish) and far enough away from LA (200 miles), SF (200 miles), etc. that there isn't much crime. There was a murder once at the high school and that was big news for months. In defense of the town, the murder was at like 2 AM. What are people doing at school at that hour?

Why I stopped going to bars.
Easier to drink at home and cheaper

| Actually what we say here is that Toledo is the biggest small town there is. Everybody here knows everybody else somehow. I can't misbehave here...it always gets back to my family and friends somehow. | |
