You can turn them on if you want but don't have to. Seeing as I only know a few phrases in French I'll use the subtitles.

| Review time: This movie was quite good. It felt like a Hitchcock film which makes sense as there were rumors that the book this was based on was actually written for Hitchcock. Rumors also stated that Hitchcock missed out on purchasing the rights to this film by just a few hours. Whether these rumors are true is irrelevant to this review. As for the plot, I will not, no I CANNOT say anything about it - the movie told me so. The only thing I'll say is after the movie was over and the word FIN was shown there was a message imploring the audience not to reveal what they had seen. I will not say anything. With that said, the plot was very good and got better as it went. Then there was the ending of the movie...WOW! - Spoiler:
Of course I can't say anything about the end either!
For the acting, it was quite good. I'm not an expert on acting and have difficulty recognizing the difference between good and great acting, but this was at least good. The main actors all come off as believable and there were no cringe-worthy moments. I'm not sure this movie addressed any major themes, but who cares? It was quite entertaining. Also, this film fits the psychological thriller genre so I'm sure there's some sort of psychological essay that could be written on this film. As for the content, the plot is dark and it does swear a couple times. It could probably get away with being PG but I'm going to rate it PG-13 just to be on the safe side. 93/100 A-UP NEXT: Let's watch Bogart and Bacall in Dark Passage.

I like them. I really dont see how. Todays movies are more funny, easier to understand, and they dont put me to sleep! I mean, I watch a few of the older movies, (The Goonies, Rambo) Stuff like that.

I would hardly consider those movies old as they were made in the 1980s. If you look at the movies I've watched very few of them are post-1960. The movies I have watched have not been comedies so I don't expect them to be funny. As long as I'm not doing other things at the same time I watch them I don't find them all that difficult to understand and they do keep me awake. Yes, some of them can be complicated to understand, but there are plenty of modern movies that have complex plots as well. Go find a modern movie that is praised by critics, it will have a complex enough plot to where a drunk person who is text messaging their friends throughout will probably end up very confused.

Hey, you watched a couple of them (The Maltese Falcon, Angels With Dirty Faces, etc.) Yeah, but I told you to watch Angels With Dirty Faces and the only reason I saw T he Malese Falcon is because it was conveniently on TCM. I don't get hyped about watching foreign movies, although they might be very good.

Might? They are very good. Well it's like American movies. There's tons of garbage, but if you stick to the good stuff you'll be fine. If you get the DVD of Bicycle Thieves you can watch it dubbed in English. I went the subtitle route but that film was actually dubbed in Italian, too. It, like Das Boot (German) was originally shot to where there was no audible dialogue and the dialogue was dubbed in.

I'm not discussing that movie. Das Boot. I don't understand the passion some people have for war films. Isn't it bad enough that shit really happened? Why would I want to watch it? I don't get it

| Not a big war film fan myself. The problem is you know how it's going to end.
If I watch say The Patriot and the British win, that's a terrible movie because that's not what happened. If the US wins, it's still bad because I already knew they won.

| I have this argument with my husband on a fairly regular basis. He LOVES war flicks and his reasoning is "This really happened! It's much better than the stupid zombie flicks you watch" To which I say, "This actually happened and it's sickening! I would rather watch zombies eating people than soldiers dying!" We rarely watch movies together | |
