With RBI single, Miguel Cabrera collects 1,000th hit in Tigers uniform

Houston — Meet Mr. 1,000.
Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera in his second at-bat Thursday night picked up his 1,000th career hit in a Tigers uniform.
Cabrera lined a singled up the middle in the third inning against Astros starter Jordan Lyles for the milestone hit. That single also gave Cabrera his 30th RBI of the season.
That was the 1,842nd hit of Cabrera's career; the other 842 came with the then-Florida Marlins.
In his first five seasons with the Tigers, Cabrera averaged 192 hits a year.
