Scherzer said after his regular-season finale he feels as good about his pitches as he has all year. While his run damage might not show it, his 54 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings over his past nine starts, six of them wins, do.


Yankees: RHP Freddy Garcia (0-0, -.-- ERA)

Garcia got the nod for Game 3 based on his experience, as well as a soft-tossing style that gives the rotation a different look. He hasn't pitched in the playoffs since '05, when he won all three of his starts and helped the White Sox to a title.
