(Nick Laham/Getty Images) Jones in, Knapp out as Tigers pitching coachBy Cash Kruth / MLB.com | 07/03/11 4:59 PM ET Following Sunday's 6-3 win against the Giants, the Tigers announced Rick Knapp had been relieved of his duties as the club's pitching coach. Jeff Jones, formerly the bullpen coach, takes over the pitching-coach duties.Mike Rojas replaces Jones as the bullpen coach.Jones had been Detroit's bullpen coach since Nov. 9, 2006. He began his professional coaching career with the Tigers in 1989 as a Minor League pitching coach. In addition to his most recent stint as the Tigers' bullpen coach, Jones also served in that position in Detroit in 1995, the final month of the 1998 season and all of '99. He also joined the Major League staff to serve in that capacity on Sept. 7, 2000, and April 9, 2002. Jones pitched parts of five Major League seasons with Oakland from 1980-84. Rojas joined the Tigers in 2004 and was named Detroit's director of player development on Aug. 6, 2010, a role he held until being named to the Major League coaching staff on Sunday. He will join the Tigers on Monday in Anaheim. Knapp joined Detroit's coaching staff on Oct. 17, 2008, after serving as the Twins' Minor League pitching coordinator from 1997-2008.
