| Hillman dismissed as Royals manager Yost named 16th manager in franchise history

The Royals dismissed manager Trey Hillman on Thursday and replaced him with former Brewers manager Ned Yost.
Hillman posted a 151-207 record in two-plus years at the helm, a record that includes a 6-4 victory over Cleveland on Thursday. Yost will take over the team immediately.
Hillman, who previously spent five seasons with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan's Pacific League, wasn't able to turn the Royals around in his first chance as a Major League manager. Hillman's Royals struggled to coalesce the last couple seasons, and Dayton Moore, the team's general manager and senior vice president of baseball operations, thought it was time for a change.
In Yost, he gets a seasoned baseball man with an impressive resume. Yost joined the Royals as a special advisor to the baseball operations department in January.
Previously, he posted a 457-502 record in his six-year run as manager of the Brewers. In addition to his work in Milwaukee, Yost can count a coaching stint under prominent manager Bobby Cox as part of his managerial pedigree.
