Multiple recruiting sites reported on Sunday that linebacker Justin Wilson has committed to Michigan State, which would give the Spartans their 18th recruit for the 2010 football signing class.
Wilson, a 6-foot, 217-pound outside linebacker from Davie (Fla.) Western High, was on campus Saturday for his official visit. He also had offers from West Virginia, Missouri, Toledo, Florida Atlantic and Florida International. Spartantailgate.com and Scout.com reported the commitment.
Oral commitments are nonbinding until players sign a national letter of intent on Feb. 3. Four of the 18 recruits have already enrolled at MSU, guaranteeing their status as signed players. Linebacker Max Bullough, running back Nick Hill, running back LeVeon Bell and quarterback Joe Boisture are taking classes on campus.
WELCOME BACK: It was a fun day for everyone at the Breslin Center on Saturday. The Spartans beat Illinois, 73-63, to move to 5-0 in the Big Ten, and multiple former and future MSU athletes were in attendance.
Spotted in the audience were Tennessee Titans running back Javon Ringer, who was sitting with recent graduate A.J. Jimmerson, along with former basketball players Mateen Cleaves, A.J. Granger, Mike Peplowski, Antonio Smith, David Thomas, Idong Ibok and Travis Walton.
Walton, who was invite to join the Izzone, jumped up and down and made noise with the group that had cheered him on for four years.
In addition to numerous football recruits, Detroit Southeastern junior guard Brandan Kearney was also at the game. He committed to MSU in November and will sign with the Spartans this November to play in the 2011-12 class. | |
