Biography: He, his wife Kristi and two sons Braden (4/22/03) and Jonah (8/1/06) reside in Kailua, HI during the off-season.
...His brother Bronson is an outfielder in the Tigers organization, while his other brother Duke was a third baseman in the Colorado Rockies organization for seven seasons (2002-08).
...Selected by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the June 1997 draft out of Kamehamena High School in Kahuku, HI, but he did not sign.
...Saw action with Hawaii in the Alaska League during the summer of 1998, batting .333 (49x147) with 19 runs scored, nine doubles, four triples, a home run and 26 RBI to earn league all-star honors.
...An All-West Coast Conference selection as a sophomore at Pepperdine University in 1999, he batted .365 (95x260) with 51 runs scored, 26 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs and 63 RBI -- led the conference with 95 hits and 26 doubles.

2001 HighlightsSpent his first professional season at Class A Mudville, where he hit .235 with 9hr and 55rbi in 109g...began the season 2-for-26 before he went 4-for-4 with a run, a double, 1rbi and a HBP in a 9-4 win on 4/14 at Modesto....beginning with that performance hit safely in 12 of his next 15g (21-54, .389, 1hr, 7rbi) to raise BA from .077 to a season-high .288.
...in the last game of that hot streak, a 10-9 victory on 5/4 at Lancaster, went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, his first career home runs and 3rbi.

2005 HighlightsSpent most of the season at Class AAA Louisville.

...the injury did not require surgery, but he didn't play again the rest of the season.
...was with the Reds from 6/12-6/14 while C Jason LaRue attended a funeral.
