| I pray everybody has a very nice Christmas... and remember, the greatest gift is the one given, not the one received. Bring some joy to somebody today, when you make their day better, yours gets better too! I also wish everybody a much better New Year. May you all find what you need. If it is work, a great job, if it is school, great grades, if it is health, may you find that too. | |

I know exactly what you mean. I did not even put out lights this year. We no longer have a ladder that reaches all our front porch. We put up our small tree, and we just gave very small presents between my mom and I. Since money is very tight, we just placed the celebration on the birth of Christ, and not on personal gifts. Our gift was helping the church have a very nice Christmas eve Candle light service. I run the sound system and video display of the songs, and also helping he pastor by designing the Christmas Eve service and formatting the bulletin. Many were blessed by the service, so that brought me joy.

| I've been reading about the 12 days of Christmas. Apparently it's bad luck to take down Christmas decorations before the 12th day. | |

| If there are 12 days of Christmas, how can stores have after-Christmas sales before January 5th? | |

| Furthermore, if there are 12 days of Christmas, how come radio stations stop playing Christmas music on Dec. 26th? | |

Because they only know the "secular meaning" of Christmas.

| Do you really want more Christmas stuff? I mean seriously, Costco had Christmas decorations out in mid-October. Isn't 2 months plenty? | |

In the past, Christmas stuff was not out until after Thanksgiving day. This super early start of the commercial Christmas season is crazy... But this has nothing to do with the concept of the 12 days of Christmas. If we really want to get to the truth of Christmas, Dec., 25th is not even when Christ was born. Christ was born when the shepherds were in the fields, and they are not in the fields from sometime in mid Oct., until spring time! For some of the history of "Christmas" see http://www.faithfulword.com/tracts/The_Shocking_Truth_about_Christmas.pdf There are hundreds of websites that cover the truth about Christmas. Unlike what some of the sites try to do, I don't blame the Catholic church as being the root of evil, since all churches have fallen into this custom. It is just something we have ALL grown up with, and it is a hard thing to break away from when we are presented with the truth...

| Merry Late Christmas everybody I hope that you all had a good one this year. Oh, and with the 12 days of Christmas thing.... we almost always used to take our Christmas tree down before the 29th because my mom didn't want Christmas to have anything to do with my birthday. But now she just figures we will leave it up until the end of the true Christmas season. | |

| Christmas was way different this year. I can't even explain how. It just didn't feel the same. Money was tight, and I asked for nothing and didn't get much, and I'm really just happy my family was able to get along. But it didn't feel Christmasy. I can't explain it really. | |

It is just something we have ALL grown up with, and it is a hard thing to break away from when we are presented with the truth... My parents tell me they didn't used to see Christmas stuff during the summer. I think moving Christmas to winter rather than the more appropriate wintertime was to coincide with pagan holidays. Given the large number of people who were into pagan stuff back then, it follows that so many pagan concepts were mixed in with early Christian holidays (Christmas trees for starters).
