The Tigers might catch a bit of a break if the next-to-worst-case scenario occurs and the Twins tie them for the American League Central title.
Then there would be a one-game playoff on Monday, Oct. 5.
And if Major League Baseball sticks to that preferred schedule, the game would have to be at Comerica Park, because the Brett Favre Bowl -- Vikings vs. Packers -- is scheduled for the Metrodome that night.
And the NFL says it has no plans to change its venue or schedule.
"We don't want to inconvenience our fans," NFL spokesman Dan Masonson said.
It wouldn't be the first time the Twins have had a conflict in the stadium, which they've shared with the Vikings and University of Minnesota.
"It would certainly be a fitting way to end our time in the Metrodome," team president Dave St. Peter said.
And speaking of the playoffs, tickets for potential Tigers games in the American League Division Series go on sale at 10 a.m. today, NOT at the box office but at tigers.com or by calling 866-668-4437. | |
