The Tigers made two roster moves today, placing leftfielder Carlos Guillen on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and optioning left-hander Clay Rapada to Triple-A Toledo.
Outfielder Clete Thomas and infielder/outfielder Jeff Larish were called up from Toledo to take their places.
Guillen is hitting .200 with no homers and six RBIs. He has played in 24 games and had 90 at-bats.
Guillen ranks near the bottom among AL regulars in slugging percentage and on-base percentage. His .244 slugging percentage ranks 91st out of the 95 everyday players in the AL, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. His .267 on-base percentage ranks 89th out of those 95 players.
Larish hit .368 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBIs in five games with the Mud Hens after starting the season with the Tigers.
Thomas saw action in 23 games with the Mud Hens, batting .236 with seven doubles, a triple, home run, 10 RBIs and seven stolen bases.
Rapada appeared in two games with Detroit after being recalled from Toledo on April 28, allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief. | |
