Dave Dombrowski thinks that Edgar Renteria will be a great fit for the Tigers. And while he didn't want to give up Jair Jurrjen and Gorkys Hernandez, he knew he'd have to give up some good prospects for a player of Renteria's caliber.

"(Renteria's) an all-around player," Dombrowski tells WDFN-AM Detroit. "I think that's what his real strength is. He's a solid defensive player. He does not have great range; he has solid range. He catches what he gets to; he has a real good arm. He's a heads-up type player in the field."

Dombrowski even compares the latest Tiger to Placido Polanco (if he played shortstop). But, he says, he's not concerned about the time Renteria spent as in Boston that was less than spectacular.

"We know Edgar really well," Dombrowski says. "For whatever reason, the comfort zone wasn't there for him at that particular time. I think he'll be very successful here."

As for talk of the Tigers signing Alex Rodriguez, Dombrowski pretty much shuts it down, and even cites a pertinent statistic. He's a "quality player," Dombrowski ackowledges, but "no club has ever won a world championship with more than 17% of salaries going to one player."

Look at the LA Lakers.....

Most players do layups by themselves. Kobe finds ways to pass to himself!!

yeah they should put a sensor on the ball that counts how many times he touches it in a game.
