| Nationals sign Dunn to two-year deal Veteran left-handed slugger reunited with GM Bowden
By Bill Ladson / MLB.com
WASHINGTON -- The Nationals finally got their left-handed slugging first baseman, signing free agent Adam Dunn to a two-year contract Wednesday, according to a baseball source. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Nationals are expected to hold a news conference at Nationals Park on Thursday. General manager Jim Bowden was not immediately available for comment.
Dunn, 28, and Bowden have a history together with the Reds organization. Bowden drafted Dunn in the second round of the 1998 First-Year Player Draft. Three years later, Dunn was in the big leagues and became Cincinnati's best power hitter.
Dunn has hit at least 40 home runs for five straight years. While he has a .247 career batting average, he has a .381 on-base percentage and can play left field, right field and first base. | |
