Right-handed reliever Scott Williamson, who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since the middle of the 2007 season, is close to signing a minor-league deal with the Tigers.
Williamson, who turns 33 next month, was once a dependable middle man, with 344 career appearances and a 3.36 ERA. He was hurt while pitching for the Orioles in 2007, and has bounced around since without getting back to the big leagues. He has impressed some scouts in workouts this winter. The Brewers were among the other teams interested in signing him. | |
