| Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond movie and a direct sequel to Casino Royale. I am not much of a James Bond fan and have only seen a few of the films - I have not seen Casino Royale.
This particular film involves Bond going all over the place to try and catch someone who ends up in Bolivia. It looks like he's trying to do something with oil but it turns out he is trying to take control of the country's water supply. I found this plot rather dull and it is somewhat closely related to the previous film so it doesn't really stand out on its own.
This film makes use of numerous action sequences. The problem with this is twofold - James Bond is not an action hero, and the action sequences were oftentimes unnecessary, unrealistic, and clearly the work of CGI technology. A film doesn't require nonstop action to be interesting, but that seems to be what this film was going for.
Playing James Bond is Daniel Craig. I don't particularly care for Craig as James Bond as he offers little resemblance to the other Bond actors. James Bond seemed to lack his usual personality in the film which I found disappointing. While Daniel Craig is billed as the film's star, it seemed that Judi Dench (playing M) had more lines than Daniel Craig. I don't recall M having such a large role in the other James Bond films and I think this also detracted from the movie.
Overall, I didn't find this film particularly enjoyable. The chase sequences were clearly the work of CGI and very heavily cut which came off as distracting. The acting fell short of what I would expect in a Bond film and the plot was equally uninspired. Most James Bond fans will probably end up seeing this, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that is not a fan of Bond or has not seen Casino Royale.
44/100 F
UP NEXT: It's a Wonderful Life....and I think I'm serious this time.

| Waste of good money that you could have used elsewhere. It depends on who is playing Bond. Some are better than others. | |

That was the first time I went to theaters in 2+ year.....SEVEN dollars to see a movie (and we went to a Monday matinee!)? A DVD is only like $15. There were 3 of us so we could have waited until it came out on DVD, bought the DVD, and had $6 leftover for snacks. I didn't buy any snacks but a small popcorn and soda that one person bought was $9.50. Now we're at $30.50 for 3 people to see a bad movie. No wonder people don't go to the movies anymore.

You can bring your own food
And Beer The problem is one person I went with had class at night and the drive-in is only open at night. Plus you can't walk to the drive-in...it's 30 miles away. The movie theater is right downtown so it's a 4 minute walk from my house. Drive-in is only like $5 a person and it's 2 movies. They say no outside food and drink allowed but they don't enforce that...how could they? But yeah, drive-ins are so much better than regular theaters. Too bad new movies tend to suck. They ought to do a classic and a new movie with the double feature instead of 2 new movies. I'd go all the time if they did that.
