| Who came up with jury duty? So I get a card like 8 months ago (okay, 1 month ago) that says I have jury duty on October 22, 2008. That would be tomorrow. Finally it's after 5:30 P.M. so I can check my status. They said to check back between 11:30 and 12:00 tomorrow. This is the same thing that happened to my sister last week. She checked in and guess what - no jury duty for a year. That's all well and good, but I want jury duty and I'm not going to get it. How often does someone actually want to be a juror? They should be happy to have me but no...some poor sap that abhors the idea of jury duty and screwed up and forgot to get out of it has to suffer through jury duty while someone like me, who understands how trials work and wants to do his part, can't. You can't request to be a juror so if they don't pick me I'll have to wait another year. By then I'll probably be working and/or in school and won't be able to serve. Thanks a lot | |

| It seems that once you are picked, and serve anywhere, they seem to flag you. My mom and dad NEVER were chosen for jury duty, but once I sat as a juror in FL, I have been "randomly" selected 5 times here in Ohio! None of my neighbors or friends have EVER been selected, but somehow I have been over and over again! Yea, it is random, my . The bad thing is, every time I was selected, I had my own business that they expected me to close down, making no income (I averaged $200 - 400 per day gross), so I could earn their $10 per day! Don't take me wrong, I feel it is everyone's civic duty, so I was happy to do it, just spread it out over everyone! | |

| Here you can get out if so easy it's not even funny. Every October I get a summons. Prior to this year I lived in LA for school so I would write I was unable to serve until the summer. What did they do? Wait until October to send me my summons and I had to give the same excuse.
My sister threw hers away and didn't show up. Did they fine her? Nope - they sent her a nasty letter (which she again ignored). Did they fine her? Nope! They sent her yet ANOTHER letter. This time she called like she was supposed to (they didn't give her the option of trying to get out of it) and after 1 phone call they told her she was dismissed and met her obligation for the next 12 months.
My dad puts that he lives at his friend's house in Nevada so they don't bother him. His friend in Nevada uses my dad's address. Neither one of them have ever been summoned in the other state and have never been re-summoned since they "moved". | |

| I get one for California every year. I never show up or call though. My step mom kept telling them I moved but they still send me one. I'm not registered to vote there or have a license but they still send them. I'm registered in Nevada and have a license here but have not received one yet. | |
