| No, I have not made this. Yes, I have eaten this (in Paris) and yes, it's good.... Ingredients - 24 snails, canned
- ½ lb. butter, softened
- 1 Tbs. shallots, minced
- 1 tsp. garlic, grated with a micro plane or finely chopped
- 1½ Tbs. fresh parsley, chopped
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 24 snail shells, with snail serving dishes, and snail tongs, OR
- 4 glazed indented earthenware snail serving dishes, OR
- 24 small mushroom caps, trimmed and de-gilled
Preparation - Preheat oven to 400ºF.
- Drain and rinse the snails.
- Combine the butter with the garlic, parsley and seasoning and blend well.
- Sauté the mushroom caps, if used, in a small amount of garlic butter until cooked but still firm. Remove from the heat.
1. If using snail shells, place a snail in each shell and fill the rest of the space with garlic butter. 2. If using a snail dish without the shells, place a snail in each indentation and fill the rest of the space with garlic butter. 3. If using mushroom caps, place 2 or 3 snails in each cap and top with a generous amount of garlic butter. - Heat the snails in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes and serve with copious quantities of French bread for soaking up the garlic butter.

| They're actually pretty good. They're really buttery and garlic-flavored more than anything. | |

Paso Robles is a Bilingual City
Isn't It? There's no such thing (at least in California). While Paso Robles (and California in general) has lots of people who speak Spanish as a native language, very few native English speakers speak any Spanish. The United States is probably the worst nation in the world in terms of teaching kids to speak multiple languages in school. Heck, you can't even start until 9th grade here. Most developmental psychologists agree it is much easier to learn a language at a young age than it is to learn one in high school and beyond.

Definitely true. We start with french in 3rd grade (age of 9 or 10) with french. Then you can add italian, english, spanish, etc. Two couples i know educate their kids bilingual because one part of the parents is not native in Switzerland. One is from Greece and one from Spain. They started right from after birth to talk both languages with the kids. And the astonishing part is, the kids don't mix up the languages. It's so easy for them to learn it at this early age. What a gift for the kids i think.

What a gift for the kids i think. Speaking lots of languages is a neat skill. I wish I was mutli-lingual. I mean sure, I speak Spanish and English, but who cares? I should have picked a different language. Sure, Spanish comes in handy, but people often ridicule people that bother to learn Spanish here. I don't think people realize they speak Spanish in Spain. I should have learned French or German....then I could watch those movies without subtitles. Thanks to Franco (or something), Spain has very little significant cinema compared to Germany, France, and Italy.
