CHICAGO -- Carl Crawford got a little scare during batting practice prior to Game 4 of the American League Division Series when he got nicked on the left side of his face by Dioner Navarro's bat.
Navarro was taking his stance outside of the batting cage when he moved the bat back like he was ready to hit and Crawford walked into the bat. Fortunately for Crawford and the Rays, the accident did not injure the left fielder enough to bump him out of the starting lineup.
"He's fine," Maddon said. "Navvy brought his bat up and just bumped him. [Head athletic trainer Ron] Porterfield said he's fine. He's fine."
Crawford, who is hitting .250 for the ALDS, is scheduled to hit in the fifth spot for the Rays on Monday against the White Sox.
