LOL. Everyone makes mistakes. I went and saw Nate pitch once last year and though he was pitching well since he retired the first 12 batters. Let's just say he was horrendous. Maybe you're just remembering that he got an out (he doesn't always manage to get outs in his starts) and forgot about the part where he gave up 12 runs since he does that every start.

| Hmmm.... that could have been it! --- I just feel the need to say this even though it has nothing to do with anything. After my guitar lessons today my brother and I went to a hunting store because he wanted a new gun ( ) and so I was wandering around, and I found some guns that were pink, which was strange. I looked at the name and it was called Cricket. I started laughing because it was not big, nor black. Then they guy who was watching me because I was walking around with a bunch of guns looked at me funny so I went to find my brother.... | |

The thing to do at a gun store if a clerk looks at you is as follows... "Can this kill a person?" (if no, ask "can you recommend a gun that will?") "When killing a person with this gun is it messy?" (if yes, ask "can you recommend a less-messy alternative?") (if no, say "well that might just work!") Next ask... "Do you have a silencer for this gun?" (when they say that's illegal ask "do you know where I can illegally acquire one?") That will get the clerk off your back

"Listen, shut up for a second. Is this gun capable of killing people?" (Why yes, and it can also ) "So if I were to purchase it and shoot you, you would die?" That should work

| Try saying this instead: "See this pink gun? If I stand in a huge open field with the gun and shoot it and at the same time drop a bullet from the same height as the barrel which bullet lands first?" If they say the one you dropped lands first - Spoiler:
Let them know they need to go back to school and learn their physics.
If they say the one that was shot lands first - Spoiler:
Let them know they need to go back to school and learn their physics.
If they say they will both land at the same time - Spoiler:
Say, "you aren't nearly as dumb as you look"

Okay maybe not completely but I'm pretty confused. Well think about it... Take and have your friend hold a bullet right next to the barrel. The moment you fire the gun, your friend drops the bullet. Which bullet lands first? Of course the answer is they land at the same time.

| No.... because if you are shooting a gun usually you are shooting it at something, so you need a target. Without a target you could accidently shoot someone or something that you did not want to. So if you shoot the gun the bullet should not land, it should hit it's target. (that is assuming that the person shooting the gun is able to hit the target and doesn't miss completely) | |

That wasn't the question though. Imagine you are in a giant, perfectly flat field. As long as the bullet you shot doesn't hit anything, it will land at the same time as the bullet that was dropped.

Because you're testing their intelligence. Common sense says the bullet you drop will hit first because you think of a speeding bullet traveling along a straight path. When you shoot a close target you don't aim way too high thinking the bullet is going to be dropping quickly. The truth is that although a speeding bullet is traveling forwards a lot faster than its traveling down, it's still going down at the same speed as the dropped bullet thanks to gravity.

I shoot a gun and the bullet travels at 5 m/s (I have no idea how realistic that speed is). How far will the bullet travel in 10 seconds (assume you're super high up in the air)? d = ½(9.8m/s)(10 2) = 490 meters. NOTE: The fact that the bullet was traveling 5 m/s is completely irrelevant. EDIT: It will travel 50 meters while dropping 490 meters.

| If you really want to get fancy solve this (I'm not going to):
I stand on top of a 50 meter building and shoot a gun straight up in the air (assume I hold the barrel of the gun exactly 2 meters above the roof of the building) and fire it. It exits the barrel with an initial velocity of 5 m/s. How long until the bullet lands on the ground?
NOTE: Assume you fire the bullet and your arm is hanging over the ledge, that way it won't hit the building.
