| Well cat, you seem to be really digging old movies and I haven't seen this one mentioned. It's probably one of my favorite movies of all time - and is quite complex through its simplicity. That may sound like an oxymoron but... If you've seen it you'd understand. A Must see! Henry Fonda is sweet. | |

| How did I miss this? The IMDb has this as the 12th greatest movie of all-time. I'd better add this one to my list of movies which is growing quite long :haha:
EDIT: I just checked TCM.com. They're airing this 7/20 at 11:30 AM. I signed up for an e-mail reminder. I'll DVR it and watch it shortly thereafter.

| It took almost three months, but I have finally seen this film and it was worth the wait. Other than about three minutes, the entire film takes place in a jury room. The movie tells the story of a man accused of murdering his father, although the viewer sees nothing of the trial and learns everything of it from the juries recollection. After an initial vote, the verdict is 11 to 1 in favor of guilty with juror number 8 (Henry Fonda) the lone dissenter. The plot isn't all that complex, but it is quite outstanding. The only negative thing I can say about this film is the fact that what happens in this film almost never happens and the ending could have been slightly more convincing.
The film, played by an ensemble cast, stars the likes of Henry Fonda, Lee Cobb, E.G. Marshall, and nine others. Since the entire movie takes place in one room, every actor has a reasonably equal part. As the lone dissenter to start the film Henry Fonda has the most dialogue and he is most excellent.
Although the film's premise is unlikely, it is not impossible. This statement reflects the movie where Fonda tries to convince the other jurors that although the defendant looks guilty, it is not impossible that he is not guilty. At just 96 minutes, the movie is not all that long but it manages to include a lot in just a short time frame. This movie is so good that I'm left with no choice but to award a near perfect score.
96/100 A
UP NEXT: The 1992 Best Picture winner, Unforgiven.

| I just finished watching this.
This movie is based on the play of the same name and it shows as it takes place in real time with no breaks for time. This movie has spectacular acting with the only actors I recognized was Henry Fonda and Jack Klugman (who's more famously known for his role on The Odd Couple).
The only flaw in this movie is the one that catbox mentioned: The probability of this happening is unlikely (but not impossible) and it wasn't very convincing in the end. Also, it was pretty predictable on what would happen.

94/100 Lee J. Cobb is rather famous, not Ty Cobb famous, but still famous. He was in On the Waterfront which stars Marlon Brando and Academy Award-Winner Eva Marie Saint (who won it for that movie). He was nominated for two Oscars ( On the Waterfront and The Brothers Karamazov which is a one of a series of terrible adaptations of what my 12th grade English teacher called the best book ever). He is also in The Exorcist and finally he is in probably the most star-studded movie of all, time - How the West Was Won which stars the following people who were nominated for an Oscar at one time (former winners in bold): The aforementioned Lee J. Cobb Carroll Baker Henry FondaCarolyn Jones Karl MaldenGregory PeckRobert Preston Debbie Reynolds James StewartJohn WayneRichard Widmark Walter BrennanRaymond Massey Agnes Moorehead Thelma Ritter Russ Tamblyn It also has George Peppard (no Oscar nominations) who is most famous for portraying Audrey Hepburn's love interest in Breakfast at Tiffany'sAs if that wasn't enough they decided to go ahead and let two-time Oscar winner Spencer Tracy narrate it. I dare you to find another film that has seven Oscar winners in it!

It's a movie with Peter Lorre. It's arguably the greatest German film of all-time and the greatest Fritz Lang film of all-time. It's from 1931 so unless you follow classic German/world cinema then you probably haven't heard of it.
