Scouting Report:
Padres: Wolf, who confessed early in March his distaste for Spring Training, struggled in Cactus League play, but sharpened his mechanics late that helped him with his command. He walked two batters in his first start with the Padres on April 3 against the Astros, and had five strikeouts. Wolf, who allowed one run over six innings, needed seven pitches to get through the fourth inning in that game, as his changeup moved well in the cool air.

Giants: Lincecum got rained out of his last start at Los Angeles -- sort of. Reports of inclement weather caused Lincecum to be scratched, since it appeared that the storms would strike in the early innings and manager Bruce Bochy didn't want to waste a start by the 23-year-old. As it turned out, Lincecum pitched anyway, working four innings of relief and scoring the tie-breaking run in the Giants' first victory of the season.

Giants hoping to reverse tide vs. Padres
Tuesday represents another chance for the Giants to end their tailspin against the San Diego Padres, which dates back to the middle of last season.

San Diego won its 11th game in 12 tries against the Giants on Monday, spoiling their home opener with an 8-4 decision. San Francisco's only win in that stretch was a 9-4 decision last Sept. 24 at AT&T Park, where the Giants have lost five of their last six to the Padres.

This actually is nothing new, since the season series between the teams have remained lopsided since 2001. That was the first of three years in a row in which the Giants were 14-5 against the Padres.

San Diego returned the favor in 2004 and 2005, finishing 12-7 and 12-6 against the Giants, respectively. The Giants were 12-7 against San Diego in 2006 before the Padres won 14 of 18 between the clubs last year.

Envisioning an outcome based on Tuesday's starting pitchers would yield inconclusive results. San Francisco's Tim Lincecum was 0-1 in two starts against the Padres last year, although he recorded a 2.03 ERA. San Diego's Randy Wolf owns a 5-4 record with a 4.11 ERA lifetime against the Giants, including 1-2, 4.88 at AT&T Park.
