No, I think they have like a base fee of $2XX or something and then a certain penalty for every mile an hour over.

Running a red light or stop sign is $271. Why they pick such an odd amount I don't know...

I once took a criminal justice class as an elective; The class was taught by a former police chief; he encouraged lots of tickets by his officers; He once told a story how he disciplined a officer than didn't write enough tickets. He put her on desk duty till she agreed to follow department guidelines.
