What kind of seats did you get? Tiger Den? Orange Box seats or blue reserved?

FYI: The Tiger Den seats were added in 1993: The Blue and Orange Seats were from the 1970s renovation: Prior to that Tiger Stadium had green seats: Detroit Athletic Company sells seats from Tiger Stadium also! Mostly seats from when it was Navin Field!

I got a pair of Blue Reserved seats numbers 1 and 2. I wish I knew what section they were from...

Personally, I rather see the seats in Tiger Stadium and fans sitting on them watching the Tigers play!

They could have put them in; but most of the renovation plans would have altered Tiger Stadium dramatically! One Plan wanted to take out the entire overhang in right and put luxury boxes instead!

Take out the overhang? That'd be stupid! While they're at it, take out the double-decked OF and get rid of the flagpole...

Trouble with Tiger Stadium's enclosed design limits the space to expand; Fenway Park could put seats on top of the Monster and in Right Field corner over the lower deck seats: In addition Fenway and Wrigley have strong local neighborhoods surrounding the stadium: In other words Rich White Yuppies that support it not fans mostly from the burbs!

They could've put seats in Tiger Stadium...ON THE ROOF!!! Get rid of those transformers and put luxury boxes up there. It's not like people in luxury boxes watch the games so who cares if it takes a telescope to see the field...

City seeking bids for demolition of Tiger Stadium

The demolition of historic Tiger Stadium is inching closer.

The Detroit Economic Growth Corp., a development arm of the city, issued a request for proposals last week seeking a demolition contractor to raze most of the old ballpark. Contractors have until Nov. 20 to put in bids.

The job would require saving a corner of the stadium for a community center and memorial.

Scott Veldhuis, project manager for the DEGC, said once bids are submitted, the DEGC will study them and make a recommendation to the city's Economic Development Corp., a quasi-public board that controls the stadium site. The EDC is expected to issue a demolition contract by mid-December.

If that schedule holds, demolition could begin around January or February.

The Detroit Tigers left the stadium after the 1999 season for Comerica Park. A lengthy debate over the stadium's fate led to the City Council approving Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's plan for the site in July.

The plan calls for razing about 90% of the stadium structure, preserving the playing field for youth baseball and other activities, saving a small portion of the stadium near home plate and redeveloping the land ringing the field as residential housing and stores.

The Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy, a Corktown neighborhood group, is working with the city on plans for creating the community center.
