SCHEDULED PITCHERS:
DET: LHP Kenny Rogers (3-4, 4.43 ERA in 2007)
Rogers' 3.34 ERA in six starts at Comerica Park last year was nearly
2.5 runs lower than his ERA in five road outings. Yet out of the 13
earned runs he allowed at home, eight of them came in two starts
against the Royals, both of them losses.

KC: RHP Brian Bannister (12-9, 3.87 ERA in 2007)
Bannister,
obtained from the Mets prior to last season, had a superb rookie
campaign once he got rolling. After going 0-4, he had a 12-4 gallop
from June 1 to Sept. 2, and was in the American League Rookie of the
Year Award running until a late slump.

I'm trying to do homework while watching the game, but it's still scoreless after 2 innings. Kenny Rogers really effective, 6 up 6 down against him.

unfortunately Bannister is effective against us...making our sluggers pop'em out!

Another 1-2-3 inning for Kenny Rogers. A total of 12 pitches thrown the last two innings. This is the best I've seen him since the '06 playoffs.

He was good against the Tigers last year. He was this year too.... unfortunately.

If these two games are any indication my preseaon prediction will (sadly) be true:

I said we will not score 1000 runs this year. Even more boldly, I said we will score fewer runs than last year. Hopefully I'm wrong.

On the bright side, our pitching hasn't been too terrible. Then again, our bullpen hasn't been terribly great either.

I had a weird feeling in Spring Training about this. There is just no spark like there was last year. They are not gellin'!
