Tigers unconditionally release Tony Giarratano
DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has unconditionally released shortstop Tony Giarratano.
Giarratano missed the entire 2007 season after undergoing surgery to correct right shoulder instability on March 1.
"Unfortunately, Tony has not be able to recover from his previous surgery and it does not appear feasible for him to continue his career at this time," Tigers President, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager David Dombrowski said. "We wish Tony all the best in his future endeavors."
Selected by the Tigers in the third round of the June 2003 draft, he hit .143 (6-for-42) with a home run and four RBI in 15 games with Detroit in 2005. | |
