Hey, look what I found!

It's the no-hitter gameday thread!

All my posts are deleted since I was banned. I'm going to repost everything on here so we have a permanent log. I'd hate to see that thread disappear for no good reason.

Neifi over Omar is just plain ludicrous.

Well, not to sound like a broken record but...

Verlander best be on his game today these guys are nothing to scoff at. If he doesn't pitch in the 60-70% strike range then Tigers are gonna be in trouble. I'm tired of Verlander throwing 54% of his pitches for strikes. It has to end and it has to end now! A win tonight and a Indians loss and we're back in business. Go Tigers.

Leyland is all alone in his preference of Neifi over Omar.

I was perusing stats to see if neifi had a great history against suppan, or something like that. Nope. he hit .200 against him in 2005. Don't know prior to that, but I'm guessing it's not much different.

I'd rather see Infante in there over Neifi.

Interesting - Brewers DH is batting 9th.

Neifi the Dopester is what I'm going to call him from now on. Is that guy still around that wrote for the Free Press?? Iffy the Dopester?

Anyway, let's leave Neifi alone. It's obvious we're stuck with his weak @$$ for the foreseeable future.

Go Tigers!!!

Looks like you got your wish. 2 k's and a fly ball. 3 up 3 down. We got to get Bondo on the same first inning program.

Who knows.

I saw birds during the Indians game the other day. Must be something around the lakes that is bringing them inland the past week or so.. (??)

Just decided to check a little bit out...

verlander has thrown 61.5% of balls for strikes that's about even with Durbin who's at 61.0%
Maroth is the worst on the team in that stat with 57% balls thrown for strikes. OUCH
Robertson is at a slightly better 62%
and the winner of the group is Bonderman who's at an impressive 66.3%. Way to go Bondo that definately earns some sort of 6-0 record...

oh and just for comparison -- Beckett is 66% Peavy 64% Sabathia 67%

Bondo's is quite impressive. Maroth needs a lot of work. Verlander - although 5 percentage points seems miniscule - really needs to pick up that stat.

Thanks for the stats. Interesting stuff. I wonder what bondo's stat would be minus the first inning Smile

Yes, Maroth needs to get it going, for sure.

Suppan is locating well today also. If the Tigers are waiting for him to make a mistake, they will end up waiting all night. Gotta make something happen, give Verlander a nice early cushion.

I looked up the bios of both Cecil and Prince Fielder.

Prince is listed at 5-11, 280 lbs.
Cecil weighed in at a mere 6-3, 250 lbs.

After 4, Verlander is 63% strikes; Suppan is 62

Verlander however has 8 strikeouts to Suppan's 1!

Also, CWS losing 5-2 to PHI after 2.5 Go PHI!

CLE tied w/ FLA 0-0 after 4 Go FLA Marlins!

Some announcer (probably Rod or Mario) said Jack Morris in 1984. So it did get on the air before the 1952 thing.

Awesome crowd, sharon! Awesome! Like you said, for a Tuesday night, too!@ It wad teaary-eyed stuff just looking at that crowd in the 9th! And the final score for the CLE @ FLA game was 3-0, to put the cherry on the Tuesday! And add probably another cherry for CWS goin' down in PHI! And add another one for Neifi Perez whose moves out there on that double play probably saved that no-no for JV! Everything is comin' up roses today! Even Neifi! What a phenomenal team!

You're a good luck charm, skeeter! You were lurking in the waters! You brought the good mojo! Visit often and soon! Wish you and your little girl some great things for the Mets to cheer about, too! (As long as it isn't against the Tigers! lol) See ya around, my good man!

It was great to share a tiny bit of it with you! I mean, it was like the ALCS clincher game after Maggs hit that monster into the seats last year! Amazing piece of Detroit history! I'm glad you all have something as a family to talk about for the rest of your lives! It was that important, that special! To tell you the truth, I don't even knowe where to begin on the OBP thread! I really don't! I think I'll wait until tomorrow. I want to see what I can pick up on other sites to soak this in some more tonight! See ya! YAAAY!

Too bad so many people have been banned since this was originally written. The readability of this suffers. It will only get worse as time progresses. At least we forever have this.

For a lot of discussions on this, click here. This page and the next page are flooded with Verlander discussions.

Thanks Catbox! I was at that game and I remember coming home and reading that thread.

We need to preserve this stuff! It is history

Glad you found it!

Not a problem. It wasn't nearly as difficult to find as I was expecting.

It is indeed history! Like lots of history, part of it is lost forever. Now that we have this place we can repost the significant GDTs here before the other mods kill them.
