What the hell are these list-makers smoking. Not only does the Simpsons have more episodes than most of the shows ahead of it combined, but it actually accomplishes something. It is responsible for the addition of a word to the Oxford English Dictionary and quite a few of its episodes have actual themes and merit behind them. The same cannot be said for crap like Spiderman which is inexcusably ahead of The Simpsons.

Also, The Simpsons has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. How many shows "ahead" of it do?

They got it right. I'm surprised Batman is that high but that's okay. Family Guy is way too high but that's also okay. South Park is in the top-5 which is good.

EDIT: That's the IGN list Smack This list overall has problems. I've seen it before - right when it came out. Sometimes IGN's lists can be a little odd.

Family Guy has its moments (it used to have a lot of moments before they canceled it the first time) but I think it is mostly piggybacking on shows like The Simpsons and South Park. The Simpsons is noteworthy because it redefined what it was to be a cartoon. There were no successful prime-time cartoons for decades prior to The Simpsons. The Simpsons was basically the first non-family oriented cartoon. South Park took that a step further and added a lot more satire than The Simpsons used. Family Guy basically copies those two formats and doesn't bring anything new to the table. Sure, it has its own characters and what not, but it is basically a harsher version of the Simpsons at the same time being tamer than South Park.

Looking forward to Cleveland's spinoff

How many spinoffs did South Park have?

Though Terrance and Philip should have got their own show

Those guys were funny

Too bad South Park hardly shows them anymore

I didn't mean Family Guy is a complete rip-off, it's just a similar idea. It's an animated sitcom. It focuses mainly on a single family and the main character is the moronic father. There's a ton of differences but they are at least similar. South Park is less similar as it focuses on 4 families.
