The reign of Fox's animated King is coming to an end after 13 long seasons.
One of television's longest-running shows is coming to an end, as Fox is wrapping up production on the animated show King of the Hill. King of the Hill first hit the air in 1997 and has 13 seasons and almost 260 episodes under its belt.
According to Variety, the decision to end Hank Hill's beer-swigging is due to a makeover of Fox's successful "Animation Domination" Sunday block, which includes The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad!. The network is squeezing a pair of new animated shows into that block: the Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show and Sit Down, Shut Up!, a toon'd remake of an Australian live-action sitcom.
King of the Hill is currently the second-longest-running comedy and animated program on television, behind only The Simpsons.
It was a good run, Hank. Enjoy your retirement!

King of the Hill gets canceled but American Dad doesn't. King of the Hill has better ratings and is vastly superior

I will believe it when I see it
They said the same shit last year about King of the Hill
American Dad sucks so far this season; Most of the shows haven't been funny
And Cleveland's New Show is far from being a possible hit
Though I will watch it
I like Cleveland
However; don't be surprised if King of the Hill returns next season

There were rumors of ABC picking up new episodes of King of the Hill, but it looks like that isn't happening either.
There is so much left to do, they can't end it now..... Will Luanne ever have her baby? Will Bobby ever hit puberty? Will Dale ever find out about Joseph? Will Hank ever make it to manager? etc.

Maybe Adult Swim or Comedy Central will pick it up

If they don't
Mike Judge should start making Beavis and Butthead cartoons again

It's Official: King of the Hill Announces Series Finale
King of the Hill seemed poised to come to an unceremonious end last season when the finale wrapped up without fanfare -- despite persistent rumors that the show was slated for cancellation. Last week at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour, FOX executives made it official by announcing that two of the six final episodes will air back-to-back on September 13. (The remaining four will move into syndication.)
Plans for the two-episode final salute were released last April, but this was the first official announcement about when fans would be able to watch them on TV.
For a 13-season show, last season's conclusion was anticlimactic. (Particularly because we know there are four episodes languishing in FOX's cave that are basically being treated like throwaways.) Yet cancellation woes are nothing new to King of the Hill. During its tenth season, the show, on the brink of cancellation, managed to bring in enough viewers to stay on.
Through good times and bad, Hank, Bill, Dale, and Boomhauer stood cooly next to a perfectly manicured lawn and sipped beers. We tip our cowboy hats to King of the Hill for the successful run.
---------------------
Nooooo!
They aren't even going to air all the remaining episodes?!? How can you do that to a show that's been on so long. Have some respect.
Maybe now they'll finally release the rest of the season DVDs. They started releasing them but then stopped a few years back
