| Turner Highlights SeaWolves Opening Day RosterTop Prospect Slated to Start Opening Day!03/31/2011 7:18 PM ET DOWNLOAD SEAWOLVES OPENING DAY ROSTERThe Erie SeaWolves, in conjunction with their parent club the Detroit Tigers, have announced their 2011 Opening Day roster. Several familiar faces will return to Jerry Uht Park this season. 15 players on the 24-man roster spent all or part of the 2010 season in Erie. The number one prospect in the Tigers organization, Jacob Turner, highlights the starting rotation and is currently slated to be the SeaWolves Opening Day starter on Thursday, April 7 against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates). Joining Turner in the rotation will be right-handers Mark Sorensen, L.J. Gagnier, Luke Putkonen and left-hander Casey Crosby. Crosby, who lost the 2010 season due to injury, is rated as the sixth-best prospect in the system by Baseball America. The bullpen features a mix of youth and experience. Jared Gayhart, Cory Hamilton, Matt Hoffman, Lester Oliveros and Zach Simons all enter the season with Double-A experience. 2010 first round pick (48th overall) Chance Ruffin and Austin Wood, both Double-A rookies, round out the relievers. Ruffin is rated as the seventh-best prospect in the Tigers system according to Baseball America. Catching duties will be handled by veteran Jeff Kunkel and Bryan Holaday, a sixth rounder from last year's draft. Kunkel has been twice named the top defensive catcher in the Tigers system while Holaday is rated as the 20th-best prospect in the Tigers system. Six of the seven infielders spent part of last season with the SeaWolves, many making a splash during the 'Wolves second half successes. Michael Bertram (1B/DH), Rawley Bishop (1B), Audy Ciriaco (SS), Brandon Douglas (2B), Justin Henry (2B/CF) and Bryan Pounds (3B/DH) all return to the Flagship City. Francisco Martinez, rated as the fourth-best prospect in the Tigers system according to Baseball America, is the lone Double-A rookie in the infield. Deik Scram leads the way in the outfield as he returns to Erie for the third consecutive season. Scram will be joined in the outfield by Ben Guez and Jamie Johnson.
