Greetings Tigers' Fans:

We have recently had several things happen at www.DTF1.net.

1- The company that hosts our site tried to change server companies and as many of you had experienced, the site was unstable. This has been cleared up now. This is a note from our host in Oct. 2009:

We have had for some time, downtime and slowdown due mainly to a new provider for our servers. This service, that we had been advised by top IBM engineers, was meant to optimize and anticipate the traffic increase on your forums and our servers.

We bitterly regret that provider choice which currently and after several days of research and development, was unable to provide a stable solution.
Therefore, we decided to leave the service to join back to our previous provider. This change will take place within hours and we are confident about the result.

These new servers are ultra-efficient and will provide you with what we've promised : faster forums, more efficient, 99,9% uptime and enhanced security for your data.

During this migration, your forums will suffer delays. Do not worry, your forums do not risk anything, this maneuver is controlled and your forums should regain their vitality very quickly.

We are still sorry for the inconvenience caused, we fully understand the bitterness generated by such issues.

Therefore, as soon as the stabilization of your forums on the new servers will be established, we will make a gift to all our users and forums. o)

2. Also in connection to this server provider incident, when forumotion switched to the new company, then back again... they lost all our smilies (which have mostly been replaced) and also THEY LOST YOUR AVATARS (member personal pic identities). We are asking all our members to log on to the site and update your Avatars.

You can do this by going to your "PROFILE", then click on your "AVATAR" tab. You will be able to add your avatar from:
a. from your computer,
b. Upload an Avatar from an URL (like from your flickr or servimg account)
c. Link to an off-site Avatar, or
d. Select your Avatar from our Gallery.

We are sorry that this happened, we all had to update ours unless you used one from forumation itself.

3. We have been daily updating the site with MLB and Tigers info, and if you have not been on in some time, you have missed many neat happenings! Remember, we also have been following the other Pro and College Teams, and your interaction is greatly desired! If your favorate team is not included, feel free to add it, or ask an Admin or Mod to add it for it.

4. We have added a calendar option in the site heading section. This allows you to keep track of birthdays and provides links to all Tigers' game day threads (GDT). We have included in our GDT a play by play recap so that you can go to any game and see exactly what plays took place. Also, at the beginning of each GDT, the 1st post will include the Tigers' official preview of the game, and near the end of the thread you will find the official box score.

5. We want to congratulate Placido Polanco on earning his 2nd Gold Glove Award in the past three years!!! Hopefully Polanco will be re-signed again. We will have all the info on the 2010 Free-Agents in the "Breaking News" section. The next several weeks should be an exciting time as we find out who will be part of the 2010 Detroit Tigers Team!

We invite everybody to log in daily and keep up with all the Detroit Tigers News, Take some time to chat with other members, Post your opinions in our thousands of Topics, Listen to some music, Look through our Media Section. Help add your favorite Old time Tigers to our Old Players Section, if they are not there already. Add your own personal experiences you may have had with our current or past Tiger Players.

Remember, this is your site and it allows you to help mold it with new info!
