Tigers ask fans to arrive early Saturday
Expect traffic with events at Comerica Park and Ford Field

By Jason Beck / MLB.com

08/28/09 8:52 PM ET

DETROIT -- The Tigers are advising that fans attending Saturday's game against the Rays arrive at the park early to avoid the traffic from the Detroit Lions preseason NFL game next door at Ford Field.

The 4:10 p.m. ET start will take place right about the time the Lions' 1 p.m. game against the Colts is expected to be wrapping up. The Tigers are suggesting fans arrive by 3 p.m. as a precaution. The gates at Comerica Park will open at 2:30.

Saturday is one of two dates this month where the Tigers and Lions are at home on the same day. A similar scenario two weeks ago, when the Tigers hosted the Royals at night and the Lions had their preseason opener, came off relatively trouble-free.

The first 7,500 fans at Saturday's Tigers game will receive a Curtis Granderson replica glove.
