Nats trade Langerhans

The Nationals acquired infielder Mike Morse from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for outfielder Ryan Langerhans.

Morse, 27, will be assigned to Triple-A Syracuse. A third-round selection of the White Sox in 2000, Morse is a .300 career hitter with 18 doubles, three home runs and 37 RBI in 107 big league games with Seattle from 2005-08.

At the time of the trade, Morse was batting .312 with 14 doubles and 10 home runs in 66 games with Tacoma of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. His 52 RBI rank 10th in the PCL.

Langerhans, 29, hit .212 with 11 doubles, four triples, nine home runs and 34 RBI in 176 games with the Nationals from 2007-08.

Next month will be the busiest trading month of the season, before the trade deadline.

Adam Dunn, Matt Holiday, Doug Davis, Eric Bedard, Aubrey Huff, plus there's always a surprise (who anticipated Manny would get traded last year?). The next few weeks are going to be exciting.

Hopefully the Tigers get involved.
