| As of today I am now a graduate of Cuesta Community College with an A.S. in Chemistry.
That's not particularly exciting as I have a bachelor's degree from UCLA.
Maybe next I'll go for an A.A. from Alan Hancock Community College. I can one in Spanish if I take a French class (still trying to figure out how that makes sense).

| I wouldn't mind learning French. I just don't see why it goes towards a Spanish degree (UCLA does not require French to major in Spanish). You don't have to take French, but you need 8 units from some electives which also include Spanish literature in translation. I've taken several quarters of Spanish literature in Spanish but that doesn't transfer to a community college (neither does Advanced Spanish and Composition...just intermediate ). | |

That program must have been set up by idiots! I can sort of understand it though. I have a bunch of upper division Spanish credits from UCLA. Community colleges won't accept upper division units because community colleges aren't allowed to offer upper division courses. Still, with all that literature you'd think they'd make an exception and give me the stupid degree. An A.A. in Spanish is somewhat useful because it shows to employers I am fluent in Spanish which is always a good thing. I wouldn't mind taking more Spanish if it would help me learn the language, but I'm not thrilled about taking classes that have nothing to do with Spanish to get my Spanish degree. Oh well.

Soon you will be back to graduating high school again! I'm working on it. I just signed up for a phlebotomy class this fall which is a certificate program - that's even less of a degree than an associate's degree!
