I'll just tell him the truth, Jones is terrible. His numbers all say he's arguably the worst closer in baseball. Saves mean very little as any ML-caliber pitcher will give up 0 runs more often than not. Closers only need to go 1 inning (or less sometimes) and get leads as big as 3 runs. I mean you have to really be awful to blow a 3 run lead in an inning and I can remember Jones doing it several times in key games.

And I wouldn't disagree. A 2 run lead (or even a 1 run lead) should be plenty for 1 inning of work for anyone whether it by Todd Jones, Joe Nathan, Jose Mesa, or anyone.

just be glad it's over and done with! at least until Aug. 5, when we play 'em again. I'm more concerned about the Rays....

He doesnt even blow many saves. He has given up most of his runs in not so important situations. I remember he gave up like 5-6 runs in an outing when we were up like 10 so it didnt really matter.
